| “We need to rotate” 19:32 - Mar 20 with 13061 views | Dr_Parnassus | Can we stop with that nonsense now please, and realise the fact that we have an incredibly front loaded and lop sided squad. Bidwell looked like a player that had been rotated, no sharpness and no fluidity and about 3 yards off the pace. Whittaker for all his effort has nowhere near the physical attributes to be playing at this level yet, he showed what he could be at times and is going to be a very good player I have no doubt, but he was knocked off the ball every time he was challenged and we gave up possession far too easily. Naughton is not a centre back and what benefits he may give us when we have the ball sadly we lose without it, we were dominated in the air in both boxes. We need to play our best team and accept we will be tired at times, that’s the nature of football when you don’t have a big squad full of quality. Which is something we don’t have despite many pretending otherwise. I am full of praise for the management team and their achievements thus far but one area where I feel disappointed in is I don’t think they have blocked out the noise efficiently enough. To me, it looks like they have allowed desperate opinion to be picked up by journalists and has allowed that to permeate their decision making. This latest game seems to be the epitome of that. It was a disjointed game with what looked like a cobbled together team. Cabango, Lowe and Smith have to start. | |

| “We need to rotate” on 15:21 - Mar 22 by Dr_Parnassus | As I said, I don’t think we suddenly turn into a hoofball team just because Cabango plays. We can keep exactly the same style of play but just be more of a threat when the ball is in the air or we get a set piece. According to this whoscored website that seems to be getting used in this thread, Cabango is our second highest rated player of the season (7.13). Naughton sitting on 6.70. Naughton plays 42.8 passes per game, Cabango plays 41.5 passes per game. However, Cabango plays 0.2 key passes per game where as Naughton plays 0.1 key passes. Kyle does have a higher pass completion rate though (77% vs 72%). The difference really is minimal and the style does not seem to alter. But what we give up in both boxes is massive. The vast majority of those stats are taken from games where Kyle plays his position and Ben plays his. For balance, I wouldn’t want Naughton starting in the middle of the three either. | | | |

Even so, the passes and key passes don’t suggest that he is a hoofball player. Even when playing in the centre he attempts just as many passes and also is more dangerous with them. This doesn’t suggest to me he is only capable of playing in the center of the three. In fact he has performed excellently when he hasn’t. He has had 3 man of the match awards this season I think, and think I am right in saying more than any of our defenders - maybe Guehi has a few too.

I’m not suggesting he’s a hoofball player, I’m suggesting he’s not as composed on the ball, or versatile as Naughton. I’m not really interested in continuing a war of attrition, as you’ve said, agree to disagree.

For completion of the point, it’s pretty much an even split. 14 as the centre of the three, 12 as one of the wider defenders. In the morning I’ll break down performances per centre and per right. I guess we will be able to isolate Cabangos stats playing in what you would describe “the Naughton position” and directly compare with Naughton himself.

| “We need to rotate” on 15:52 - Mar 22 with 595 views | Thornburyswan | Not quite sure how this has turned into a ‘it must be either Nauts or Cabango’ debate but hey ho - for me they are different types of CB, if you like back in the early years in the Prem Tate vs Caulker, one has vast experience can play CB or RB (LB for Tatey) the other is a young learning on the job out & out CB who is physically bigger/stronger & much better in the air in both boxes. Personally I’d have gone Cabango on Saturday but that game has gone so pointless debating that point - going forward in games where the opposition play with a dominant CF/9 or in games where we’d expect to be on the front foot (probably all our remaining home games for example) then I’d have Cabango & Guehi plus 1 (could be Bennett, Nauts or Cooper). Probably Reading & maybe Watford away I might be tempted to nudge Nauts back in ahead of Cabango. | | | |
| “We need to rotate” on 15:56 - Mar 22 with 587 views | Dr_Parnassus | It was an easy enough one to do actually. Playing the wider of the three CB’s, Cabango has an average rating of 7.06. Naughton has an average rating of 6.70. [Post edited 22 Mar 2021 15:57]

The difference isn't minimal. 5% isn't minimal in the context of accurate passes. Naughton isn't a hoof merchant, Cabango more so. I would never have a go at Cooper for trying to play more football. He doesn't and hasn't done it anything like enough. It's bad enough he's boxed himself in to 352 and can't find a solution out of it, but the big problem all season is the way we set up- 8 defensive minded players. Chuck in Cabango and Bennett together and that compounds that. You want the Swans to do a Cardiff, become a long ball team and play giants, we get it, you don't have to scour stats site to back that up, just be honest.

He's scored a few goals and good on the lad, but you really are scraping a very tedious barrel if you are going to use whoscored.com ratings and random MOM awards. Just try and digest this carefully, take your time. It really isn't that hard.... Cabango with the ball isn't great. That's not his game regardless of the fact he can pass it 10 yards back to the keeper or his fellow defenders. There's no "football" from Cabango. There's a lot more from Naughton. Right.... what a boring discussion

Yes it is. What was is? 42 passes each per game? That means 2 will find the target per game more than Cabango, where are Cabango is more likely to play a key pass. Which probably accounts for the discrepancy in the accuracy. Cabango will play 12 key passes per season, which I think is something like being within a 4 pass streak of a goal or something along those lines. Naughton will make 6. Neither are hoofball merchants. I don’t understand your point again. I have clearly shown that Cabango is not a hoofball merchant, so wanting him to play and showing exactly why doesn’t compute to what you are claiming. Again that’s just something you do when you are upset with someone as opposed to when you are wanting to make an actually pertinent point.

It was a website you used, I thought it may be interesting to also use it to show my obvious point. Maybe it would have only been interesting if it backed the point you wanted? Oh well. Cabango plays more attacking key passes than Naughton, they aren’t back to the keeper. That’s why a lot of these stats are inter-twined. Yes of course it’s a boring discussion. But again, you get like this when you are upset. You argue that the sky isn’t blue. I imagine you will still be talking about it by the time the next game comes around to. Such is life.

It's 3.12am in Brisbane and this clown IS STILL OBSESSING with Cabango-ball. Hahahaha dear God. For the record, Cabango plays 60% more long balls than Naughton does - SIXTY percent!!!! 137 Naughton vs 227 Cabango And Cabango makes 20% more inaccurate short passes. Now they are the facts.... but you throw in the key "eye" test and any Swans fan will tell you, Cabango with the ball ain't great. Naughton ain't brilliant, but he's markedly better.

... and like clockwork we are back with posting times. If it wasn’t so predictable it would almost be amusing. Even caps to go with it this time. What counts as a long ball? 10 yards? 20? 25? Again, Cabango plays more key passes than Naughton, more assists, more goals, better defensively, better in the air, higher rating, more points per game... but yes Naughton is better. I’m afraid you still aren’t convincing me.

Deprivation. What about sleep? You must be hanging every morning? Nearly half 3 in the morning and you're up at 8 for the betting.... but never mind that, WHOSCORED RATED CABANGO 7.02!!! That's far more important.
