| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Yes but what else would he fill his time with , bloody work getting in the way of personal greed , can't be having that

| Mr Drakeford on 10:44 - Jul 1 by Scotia | I've just read that the Cardiff half marathon has been postponed from October until March due to the lack of certainty regarding social distancing. This is the third largest mass participation event in the UK. People come from around the world to participate. All adults will be fully vaccinated and the most vulnerable will have received a booster vaccination. What does this say about WG encouraging people to take part in physical activity? Will Wales ever be open for business again? |
We'll be cowering behind our sofas until Grampy Wales is brave enough to loosen the leash. Frankly I'm expecting mass disobedience long before that happens.

"Grampy Wales" This is the very problem with Drakeford, he isn't just slow and cautious, he's timid. For all Bojo's faults, timidity isn'tone of them. maybe it's time we opened up again but with ongoing public health warnings, information about symptoms and outbreaks/clusters so people can make informed choices. People are having enough of just being told "NO"

He is timid. Bojo gave a date but couldn't stick to it. You'd have to be a bit stupid not to understand why. We don't even have an indication of a date. How on earth are businesses supposed to plan without one? The half marathon is a massive event for SE Wales. Every hotel and restaurant from Bridgend to Newport is totally full on that weekend. It effectively means they have lost out on two full years of major events, for no other reason than indecision.

Johnson, for all his numerous faults, understands that people need positivity. Drakeford, being the dull technocrat on guaranteed money that he is, doesn't. Even now the messages are more about "The Third Wave" than, "Vaccines work, hopefully it'll soon be over". We're going to have to live with this. Time we started learning how.

Welsh people are already, by and large ignoring and breaking the rules. Drakeford can say what can open and what can not but when England open up the Welsh public will follow. How many hand on heart can say they are following all the rules below. What you must do You must: wear a face covering (if you are able to) in all indoor public places only form an extended household with no more than 2 other households and they should stay the same not meet with anyone other than your extended household indoors in your home not meet with more than 5 other people in indoor regulated settings, such as cafes, restaurants and pubs (unless you are meeting with only people you live) meet no more than 29 other people outdoors including in private gardens, public spaces and outdoor areas of regulated premises such as cafes, restaurants and pubs You should: follow social distancing rules with people you do not live with or who are not in your exclusive extended household work from home if you can minimise travel to areas of high prevalence

We are actually doing all that but it is time we moved on now and learned to live with this thing. We need to get the vaccinations done and the booster program started and get on with our lives now. It's been a long 16 months and I'm sure we'd be doing much better if our politicians (all of them in all 4 home nations) had handled things better.

The problem with suggesting dates is that hospitality as one example begin to prepare for it, and spend a lot of time/money in doing so. When Johnson pulled the rug some of these businesses lost a lot more money than they would have working towards no date.

Compare that to Wales though, Drakeford told the businesses what they had to do to stay open then he shut them all anyway. He bleated on about fairness when to me, if we'd left the businesses open that could safely stay open we could have given more aid to those that had to shut. While I'm at it, golf courses and outdoor tennis centres could have stayed open too. There was no joined up thinking, there was no sense to some of it and it often seemed like the devolved governments were competing with Westminster rather than working together for the greater good.

Actually the dates Boris gave were the earliest possible date thay estrictions could be eased. He quite clearly stated that the dates were the Earliest possible dates and had to be backed by scientific evidence. This was clearly understood on this side of the border and everyone understood they may slip depending on the data . Four of the five dates were met Perhaps this was not reported on understood in Wales.

It is, and remains, sheer insanity that the first order of practically all the UK Governing bodies when faced with the type of virus known to spread more easily indoors was to restrict people's access to the outdoors. You're quite right that "Wait for Westminster" has been basically their only course of action throughout this entire thing, and they've still put up worse figures.

Agree with you 100% Cat but this is the sort of thing I am seeing day in day out as I travel (for work) throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Not only public transport, but in shops, city centers and offices. The people who have the authority to control it, even in Wales, have been told not to. So many travel cross boarder when England lift restrictions, everywhere will follow whether Drakeford likes it or not. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-

It was bound to happen, partly because some people weren't following the rules anyway but (in my opinion) for most it's a case of seeing what the politicians have done nad having had enough of them. Here in Wales we have already been told that the Senedd will wait to see what Bojo does, what the figures are and then decide. Can't they just look at the data and make a decision...well no, because they want to do something different to Bojo just because they can, whether it's right or not. In the case of the pandemic, devolution has been a nightmare, the Uk has been working against itself and now people, including people like myself, are saying lets just get on with it.

We can get on with it as much as we like, but while cases are high, other countries won't allow us in, so that's holidays and foreign travel over with for another summer

Not strictly true. Merkel was with France trying to get the EU on block to bring in quarantine for UK visitors, she has now backed down (see link). The world will be opening up for double vaxed and after 19th expect no quarantine even on return for amber countries. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-

Some countries are not just letting us in though, they are begging us to go!

| Mr Drakeford on 15:40 - Jul 5 with 1312 views | Scotia | As it looks likely that BoJo will announce that fully vaccinated brits will no longer have to quarantine when returning from an amber list country this evening, I've been tentatively looking at holidays. It turns out in Wales we have to book PCR tests for the second day you arrive back through the government portal. We can't use UK government approved private testing companies even though the tests are identical. Everyone over aged 5 or over needs one. Via Tui you can get one from £20 if you live in England. In Wales the cost is £88 - there is no option to shop around. Shocking! | | | |

If true, it's a case of indirect taxation.

I don't think it's to do with the app as you fill in a passenger locator form too and it's for the test when you come back. It just seems to be more expensive for no apparent reason. It'll cost me £270. If I lived over the border it would be £150 at the very most.

The cost would not be that different if it was just an app issue.

That's another question. Met up with a friend who lives in Bristol last weekend. Her NHS app has everything on it. Medical history, current prescriptions, dates of vaccination, the lot. I guess after 20 years of Welsh Govt control of the NHS we're all going to be issued chalkboards this side of the Severn.
