Absolutely disgraceful, vaccinating young children who have literally zero chance of becoming ill from the rebranded influenza and opening them up to the dangers of a rushed through vaccine that would not be allowed to roll out if we weren't in a state of emergency.
Nobody knows what the future holds as long term efficacy is still in clinical trials which everybody getting vaccinated is part of.

I don't think Sturgeon has, she has maintained restrictions in areas where the Indian variant seems to be taking hold.
Similarly to the Kent variant, the Indian variant hasn't taken hold in Wales yet. So Drakeford has it much easier.

I think you will find a lot more people in the UK voted for boris in the UK than voted for Drakeford. Even with all the ingrained instincts of the Welsh voters labour only gained 1 more seat and still does not have a majority.

When you consider the high number of test being carried out in the covid hotspots, the England rate of 0.17% seems very low. Take the hotspots out and the rate across England must be incredibly low. Sometimes you need a leader to keep a cool head and not panic. Target Bolton ect but slowly ease other parts of England. [Post edited 16 May 2021 9:16]

The real issue there is that the low vaccination rate is in the ethnic communities who are most at risk. They have fallen for the anti vax BS and with the new starin they are even more at risk.

It seems unavoidable unless we send the troops in and close down the areas where the India variant has a grip. Do we enforce martial law on some areas because an ethnic group won't obey rules and won't get vaccinated? I can see the headlines AND I can see the Indian Government getting very angry if we did.
Thee areas, they need local lockdowns and we need to tell theese ethnic groups they are in lockdown until they are all vaccinated. We need to stop travel to and from ALL red zones.
The economy will bounce back, peoples lives are at stake. We need to take the pragnatic (if unpopular) decisions and more quickly. | |
