None of those take into account vaccination fully- it’s too complex to model as subtleties in variation of resistance and susceptibility are nigh on impossible to model. Jon Read (Lancaster on SPI M) used to be at Liverpool. We discussed this over avian influenza models as models fall down poorly over this (as it is so difficult to quantify). Didnt they all have to quarrantine for 14 days when they flew in from India or Pakistan and Bangladesh. They only thing i can think of is they did a runner or deliberately broke the law. A bit like Merthyr or most youngsters to name a few locally.
Blaming Boris or Witty etc is pathetic with most people ignoring the rules, and before you all go off on one the number of people wearing a mask below the nose is laughable. We have been locked down long enough leave it upto the induvidual to decide if they want to isolate longer. Most of my mates who are all elderly have had enough, others are going to go bust if they cant make money soon. |

People ,remember,not governments are responsible for this spread.
Bear in mind, many do nit consider a mask desirable or necessary .Tgey just do nit like to be told.

He wanted a trade relationship and India are supplying a significant proportion of the vaccines - hence the delay.
It’s a poor call that travel wasn’t stopped. If the India variant is unaffected by the existing vaccines and is more contagious that other strains, we are going to be back to square 1 unless it’s contained sharpish.
New Zealand and Oz contained it, I appreciate we have a different geographical position, but there is no reason we couldn’t have had significantly tighter travel restrictions.
Edit - BBC reporting concerns mounting about the transmissibility of the Indian version and SAGE reporting “there is a “realistic possibility” it could spread 50% faster” than the Kent variety which in turn was more transmissible than the initial strain. The opening up in June is now under threat.

He hasn’t, but as there are only something 2 flights per week arriving and departing Cardiff from Spain and as both countries allow essential travel to the other and there would be maximum of around 360 travellers per week if social distancing isn’t followed. If SD is followed then it’s considerably less.
None of the devolved or the Westminster Government have banned all travel, NZ hasn’t banned all flights either. | | | |

I know, Major, the point was that while Bojo has made another cock up we can hardly sing Drakefords praises for it either when there are still international flights landing in Cardiff. We know people are coming to the Uk from red list countries via green countries. All Uk governments should have taken steps to control this.
NZ has been in a much better place than the Uk for a long while and they had some of the strictest travel rules,

People returning from India to reside in Wales etc, students, holiday makers were allowed back in with no requirement to quarantine in hotels etc. There’s no policing of home quarantines as the HO team responsible for the checks was disbanded several months ago. People arriving could use public transport to travel to a quarantine address!
