My personal view is that Boris has done a tidy job with the vaccines. He backed a number of different options and it came up trumps, the EU put their faith on a few options one being the French product which let them down. Apart from the vaccines, the furlough scheme helped a lot of people but others missed out, but there’s been a lot of poor calls too including border control, mixed messages, going in to lockdown too lateand it will be interesting to see what Cummings says on Wednesday. | | | |

There is no doubt the vaccine programme is saving lives, the difference is stark. However, the UK’s dealing of the pandemic doesn’t make great reading.
Unfortunately we have the highest total number of deaths in Europe, we are also 5th highest in terms of total numbers of deaths across the world (but I have some doubts on that as China have only reported 4.6k deaths) we are 7th highest in the deaths per capita behind Hungary, Czech Replublic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Belgium and Italy while Ireland is almost half ours. In terms of deaths under 65 years we had the second highest mortality rate in Europe (behind Bulgaria).
The landscape should now change with the vaccine, but overall our handlings not been great. | | | |
