He does have a great engine, probably the best cardio I can remember on a player. He also has desire and he can finish. His strengths are charging up and down the wing though, yes, getting in the box if we’re playing wingbacks and attacking down the other flank. I can’t see he’d be so effective with a smaller, more congested space to work in. It just isn’t his game.

Many of the less intelligent will always be too set in their 352,433 basic speak. And they think they're being clever. Barmy. You're so right about fluidity and interchanging especially up top. Frank was bedazzled in the away game, full of praise for the way in which we destroyed them with our clever interplay, pace and fluidity up top. He admitted to not knowing how to cope, his much lauded defenders buckled. Ayew and Roberts humbled their talisman Henry. Roberts will have a part to play, no question. But not in that same way. Cooper knows best how to deploy him, and has managed him to perfection. Cooper clearly now has the measure of Frank. It's no coincidence that Cooper and not Frank is the current hot prospect for EPL clubs.

Four paragraphs and no content. Fluidity and interplay are two of the main reasons Connor doesn’t play in the front three

He doesn't play there because he is a fullback/wingback but can he play there to cover for an injury ?, I think he can, not saying the manager is going to do that mind but I wouldn't have a problem if he did.

Yes. In the way that Tate played in goal for us once. He’s not the worst option. Say Cullen gets injured and we’re a goal down on Saturday it’s worth a go. Starting him there, in a playoff final, would be a huge gamble though. You’d also have to play Ayew in the middle, where he isn’t as effective as when he cuts in from the right. Unless you’re talking about playing Roberts centrally, which would be crazy. Whittaker is an option as well.

He’s played every game until recently. Look at ‘goals per 90’ or ‘minutes per goal’. In a 532 (sorry Andy) he’s a genuine attacking threat with all the space he gets. Up front in an emergency sure, but not at Cullens expense.

| Connor Roberts on 10:20 - May 24 by Fireboy2 | Coopers team selection and formation all depends on how brentford have been forming up in recent games. I suspect w@nks will be his usual arrogant self and go gung ho and I think cooper will go 3 5 2. |
I suspect you're right regarding Franks arrogance, this is possible that Saturday could be his last at a tilt at getting them up , he 'll be desperate for the win and his ego will expect them to win comfortably. The media are blowing smoke up their collective anus's so that could work in our favour.Frustrate and counter

Yes indeed he has an excellent record of goals and assists from wingback/fullback fair play.

As does Cabango from centre back. 1 less goal in 15 less appearances. Would you play him up front?
| Connor Roberts on 12:37 - May 25 with 1038 views | 34dfgdf54 | The experiment of playing Roberts there didn't work. He's a wing back, not a winger. | | | |
| Connor Roberts on 12:51 - May 25 with 1028 views | scruffyjack | Brentford played 4 5 1 against us at home and we played 352. That allowed their full backs to bomb on and they had a two v one out wide against us nearly all game. Couldn’t understand why Cooper didn’t go to a back four early doors. Conner Roberts best position is full back IMO, coming late into the box where he excels. Cooper though prefers Naughton from a defensive viewpoint. | | | |

Cabango up for free kicks and corners is a real danger, he is an attacking threat, Swans have no out and out centre forward and if losing in the last minute or two I would expect Cabango to be pushed up as an old fashioned centre forward with Ayew and Lowe trying to pick up any knock downs, Roberts from wingback is an attacking threat, Ayew and Lowe job is to be an attacking threat, where Swansea are mediocre attacking wise is in midfield with Grimes, Fulton, Smith etc not doing great offensively, Routledge never scored enough goals for an offensive player either, Hourihane is good at set pieces but even he has not done great offensively in open play for us thus far. Yes, so would I. Losing with 5 minutes to go, all bets are off. By all means push Roberts up in that scenario. Starting him there, taking Ayew out of position and leaving Cullen out would be silly. Your best 11 players aren’t always your best team. Shoehorning him in as a winger because he’s an exceptional wingback is the sort of thing that should be reserved for pre season friendlies and league cup games.

I'm not saying that Cooper will start Roberts out of position, in fact i would expect Cullen to start, but judging by the substitution of Routs against Barnsley, there might just be a thought in Cooper's mind to keep a back 4 and play Roberts with Roberts not being part of that back 4, we shall see.

I think he's going to start Roberts like you are saying personally, which I think would be a big mistake. But the proof will be in the pudding as they say.
| Connor Roberts on 14:48 - May 25 with 944 views | angryjack | I don't agree Roberts is a winter either, yes he's great going forward, but it's a lot lot easier overlapping and getting forward running into the space from deep as a full back than it is playing already in high position as a winter when you are being marked it's harder to find the space when the ball comes to you than it is to run from deep, going into the space when you got more time and space | | | |

Whooosh. Yet another whooosh moment for the unthinking, oh so predictable, vanilla types. Maybe some ought to Think, before they speak the blinding obvious. Standards of critique have woefully slipped. Have a bash at breaking out from the stereotypical ol' fashioned Ron manager 'jumpers for goalposts'. 532, 352 is so Passé. Read the broadsheets, listen to the top managers speak, watch the top teams play. It so ain't the rocket science some of you hide behind. Those that have played at a high level have a chance. Those that stop, think and then speak(type) have every chance.
