| Congratulations to Brentford 19:24 - May 29 with 5583 views | trampie | Brentford deserved their win and promotion, so well done to them. It was a virtual home game for them mind and played with all English officials, similar scenario the other way round I suppose would be if the match was at St Helens or Ashleigh Road with all Welsh officials, just to put things in context like, things were always stacked against the Swans, as is the want of the powers that be. | |

| Congratulations to Brentford on 19:18 - May 30 by Dr_Winston | Ballpark figures suggest Brentford are well in the black on transfers during Benham's tenure as owner. As far as I can tell they've ranged from a £3m loss to a £33m profit depending on the season, considerably in profit overall. To be honest I find that £110m figure hard to believe, not to mention the fact that if he was subsidising them to that extent, especially given they have no Academy to fund, they would have fallen foul of FFP rules by now. Maybe you've got examples of what the purported £110m has been spent on? |
Edited. No idea why this didn’t post previously. I have no clue nor do I care what it’s been spent on. I’ve just checked their latest filed accounts and he has paid himself back a substantial amount following sale of Griffin Park land. He’s still owed £60m by the club though. He went up to £100m + to fund cash flow. https://www.brentfordfc.com/si Actually - the money hasn’t been removed. The remaining £40m is in as equity in the same accounts. So £100m is still in the club from the owner. Incidentally - the questions asked about where the money has gone. If you look at the profit and loss account just for this one year, you can see where it’s gone. Over £10m loss just in this one year (a year with substantial player profits). Their costs are huge compared to their income. [Post edited 31 May 2021 8:03]

| Congratulations to Brentford on 20:30 - May 30 by switchingcode | One Matthew Benham the bees sung and I expect most clubs outside the top 6 would love to have such an owner.Someone who not only owns the club he’s supported as a boy and attends most games he’s put over a 103 mill into the club that includes a new stadium that we own at a cost of 78 mill.He has recouped 162 mill in player sales after spending around 70 mill on recruits. What a mad owner we have by the way Hows yours ? |
Yeah, that was the point I was making. People seem to think there’s been no investment. Benham has done brilliantly by you. We have no such luck. He’s been repaid about £40m after the old ground was sold and the whack load of houses have been built. He’s still owed £60m by the club. Interest free...

| Congratulations to Brentford on 19:37 - May 30 by trampie | You are paranoid, I seen this table during this season at some point and thought it interesting, and when you mentioned how rich the Brentford owner is I remembered he was down towards the bottom of the list I had seen, you don't like being contradicted that is your problem. |
Yeah, of course you did... Companies House is my friend. How about you?

| Congratulations to Brentford on 20:04 - May 29 by Dr_Winston | Brentford have been working towards a unified plan for years. They've recruited managers to suit it. They've signed players to suit it. On occasion they've sold players for big money and reinvested that cash to build themselves as a club. I believe (although could be wrong) they've funded their new stadium themselves. They haven't actually needed an awful lot of cash from their owner at all. In short, they've done things almost exactly the same way we did ten years ago proving that massive "investment" from owners is unnecessary, and if they weren't so generally full of themselves they'd probably deserve a fair chunk of praise for doing so. |
This, with spades. Benham is the living embodiment of "by fans for fans"

Ok ðŸ‘all I would add he’s not a multi billionaire not even a billionaire so he’s putting a large percentage of his cash into the club and as much as I love the club that wouldn’t be me in his position. He’s always said he’s not in it for the long run so I enjoy while we can as without him we would be playing Swindon next season in a run down stadium with 5000 fans.

Best attitude to have, just enjoy the good times because, unless you're a top 6/7 club, they won't last long. Benham has put a large chunk of his own money in and he'll probably get it back but still the club is well run and as much as I dislike Frank, he's done a very good job. Brentford were much more fun to watch than most other teams. We were dross for a long time, Barnsley were all action but little quality. The division was generally rubbish this season, very much of a muchness.

You seem very bitter still, you are welcome to keep coming back if it aids your sanity. It’s odd though. Discourse as other posters say is welcome, direct abuse is not. Enjoy your journey, we know all about it, or should I say Cardiff do. They spend one season in the premier league at a time. Maybe a bit more bragging rights for you when you win a major trophy or take on some of the best in Europe and win.
