| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. 15:06 - May 30 with 8436 views | OptimisticJack | Normally I am so proud of our fans but felt totally embarrassed by our fans booing the British anthem yesterday. I do feel that the announcer prior should have announced that the Welsh anthem would follow and may have prevented some booing. We are playing in the English league. All too often we suspect that the powers to be dont want us Welsh teams in the top flight. Things like this add fuel to the fire. It may just be the actions that influence the minds of referees and lean decisions against us. The referee yesterday certainly didn't give us a thing and from early on I could see a red card and penalties coming against us. We are not doing ourselves any favours.

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 10:25 - May 31 with 883 views | jackrabbit | I was relieved that there were no post match reports of violent confrontations between rival fans. Whether there were or not, there was nothing serious enough to make the news and for that I was grateful. Nothing says ‘sore loser’ than the desire to attack the celebrating victorious fans. I wonder would that have been the case if our cousins down the road had been there and suffered that defeat on Saturday? Well done Swans fans! It must have been a miserable experience but it looks like you exhibited dignity in defeat, so well done for that. In our years in the Premier League we were a liked and respected club and long may it stay so. [Post edited 31 May 2021 10:27]

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 10:55 - May 31 with 847 views | OptimisticJack | Putting my original post to one side and I understand it creates divided opinion - to reiterate in my opinion all forms of politics should be kept out of sport. That aside our fans were brilliant. Impeccably behaved. Went a bit quiet after the 2nd goal went in but that was understandable. The whole day was not real though. I went by coach and arrived around 1 30.. Straight into the ground. No time for a pint. No chance of a pint inside. After the game straight on the bus and straight home. Very different and very sterile particularly with face masks in the concourse. Nevertheless despite the result and performance enjoyed the day. [Post edited 31 May 2021 10:56]

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 11:40 - May 31 with 829 views | Jack59 | With the potential of a small minority achieving a disproportionate and negative impact on the clubs future, maybe more sensible fans could mitigate damage and disrespect to our players, by turning up with Union flags and the flag of St George. I think some louts would move on, rather than expose themselves to any representation or symbol of the UK. Inclusivity? Maybe for some mun, but we'll choose see boyos. Pathetic individuals not understanding the basics. | | | |

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 20:54 - May 30 by builthjack | Most Swans fans booed the English anthem. Most Brentford fans booed the Welsh anthem. It's how it is. People are getting silly about it. Swansea is in Wales. Most Swans fans are Welsh. Brentford is in England. Most Brentford fans are English. If some of you ex Swansea people now want to be English that's fine. Just don't make a song and a dance about it. |
Most of Swansea's starting eleven were English.

It is up to immigrants to assimilate if they choose to live and work here, they need to realise that Swansea is a Welsh club and bringing flags from foreign countries is disrespectful to the local population.

Were the tens of thousands of protestors carrying Palestinian flags through London and other major cities the past few weekends being disrespectful to the local populations? Do those people need to realise that London/Manchester/Brighton/Birmingham etc are English cities and bringing flags from foreign countries is disrespecting the local population?

Dwight. I’m sure agree you cannot be an immigrant if you move from one region of your country to another. Geordies don’t emigrate to London nor do Brummies to Bridgend . As I say, backward thinking Profoundly sad

Sport is tribal, England are our traditional sporting rivals, it's disrespectful to fly English flags in the home end of a Welsh team even if most of the players for the home team are from England. It's a respect thing, I don't boo the English anthem but I don't expect English flags in the Welsh end either, like I say it's a respect thing, some of us have got it, others haven't.

We will be leaving England before much longer to spend good money in contributing to the Welsh economy. My Wife is English but seems ok to me and has been for 32 years. She s been referred to as scum by some of our own fan base. Some woman not to feel hatred towards people like that .innit

We're not a Welsh team. We're an English Football League team who play in Wales. It's why when our name was pulled from the bowl during the 2013/14 Europa League draws we were involved in, there was an English flag next to our team name and the letters [ENG] underneath the words Swansea City. Much like TNS are a Welsh Premier League team who play in England. Much like Monaco are a Ligue 1 team who play in Monaco. I could go on.

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 08:43 - May 31 by onehunglow | Well said. Sorry to offend but if you are booing the National Anthem of our country which is the sovereign land of the United Kingdom Kingdom or Great Britain and Northern Ireland, you are a cretin. You are booing your own land. It' that simple. Narrowing it down to Wales ,you might a well narrow it further to individual towns and cities, then towns, then villages. We're all better that one another, aren't we. East /west/north south. We have ,btw, just screwed up another play off and this infighting is no panacea for the pain. It simply deflects the hurt for a while. Makes us feel better ,see. Meanwhile Killy, let's have the Soldiers song then. Give us a detailed critique on the lyrics of your hero of a land of religious bigotry and state sponsored sexual and abuse and adoption of illegitimate kids taken away from their birth mother. The land you love. |

Is right Welsh has nowt to do with it.Apart from Ben and Roberts yesterday, the Welsh anthem flew over our players heads.Like Ryan Giggs, they looked terrified of it. Away games at Connah's Quay and Flint (Fflint) don't really do it for me. That is what Welsh football is about.

Gwan Lisa .... this is rivalry. Normal healthy rivalry. Long may it continue. In rugby, every nation wants to beat England above all else. Even Oz and All Blacks. I often wonder why ? They must all be wrong and/or evil ... 😇

| Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. on 09:29 - May 31 by onehunglow | Hey,Connah's Quay 30 mins for me ,Bala a nice trip of an hour, and a straight run down the 483 for the New Saints. Eye watering derbies at port talbot and Llanelly not to metion Carmarthen Town games when our welsh speaking fans can muse over our forthcoming fixture at Bangor City. Pity Rhyl went titsup as it could have been a weekender there |
Such a great sense of humour, fair play .... 🙃 Whereas trips to say Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Hull, Morecombe, Bolton, Rotherham, Tranmere and Walsall are so very similar to Barcelona, Munich, and Paris. See its easy to play this take the p@ss game innit .

Of course Swansea is a Welsh team, hence the Welsh national anthem was played at the play off final, Wales has its own league leading to European competition as does England but that doesn't mean that Swansea is not a Welsh team.
