Booing of the British national anthem yesterday. 15:06 - May 30 with 8434 viewsOptimisticJack

Normally I am so proud of our fans but felt totally embarrassed by our fans booing the British anthem yesterday.
I do feel that the announcer prior should have announced that the Welsh anthem would follow and may have prevented some booing.
We are playing in the English league. All too often we suspect that the powers to be dont want us Welsh teams in the top flight.
Things like this add fuel to the fire.
It may just be the actions that influence the minds of referees and lean decisions against us.
The referee yesterday certainly didn't give us a thing and from early on I could see a red card and penalties coming against us.
We are not doing ourselves any favours.

It s a wonder the English come over and spend millions to keep many in jobs .

We can always cut their water supply....
Coming on holidays and spending loads is different, you could go to Spain on holidays but not singing the anthem

Why play national anthems? It wasn’t an international.
As for booing hey ho. GDTQ like the Union Jack is a symbol of oppression.

The Spanish anthem is a real tongue twister 😂 English holiday makers spend most of their time making fun of the welsh language, shame but true.

I guess you’d be happy if we played in the Welsh league?

Some of our fans hatred of England is an embarrassment we play in the English league system, get over it or feck off & watch Carmarthen town.

When the Welsh teams entered it was the football league.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

That is what we have grown to know of the English ignorance, they forget the Celtic nations were here way before they slept with their sister brother / mother to make a king or Queen.....

Most Swans fans booed the English anthem.
Most Brentford fans booed the Welsh anthem.
It's how it is.
People are getting silly about it.
Swansea is in Wales. Most Swans fans are Welsh.
Brentford is in England. Most Brentford fans are English.
If some of you ex Swansea people now want to be English that's fine.
Just don't make a song and a dance about it.

I don’t want to be English.

I don’t agree with the monarchy. I’d get rid of all of them.

I wouldn’t sing GSTQ.

I still wouldn’t boo it anymore than I’d boo any other anthem. I think it’s a bit classless. Not the end of the world.

The booing of National anthems started many years ago when England fans started booing everyone elses. It's a shame. Anthems should be respected, but others followed the English.

Not really.

Lisa is right, and i am wrong.
I still would have boo’d though.... 🤷‍♂️

I bet you would have sung your little heart out like it was Charles Investiture in 1969. One of your favourite moments i would guess. You and that George Thomas. Very humble.

No welshman should ever sing God Save the Queen.
Its Englands anthem, thats it.

The British stuff is just guff made up to control the Celts.

Booing - well i was not there...?
But if i was then i would have boo’d it and everything that it stands for.
You need to ask why we feel its appropriate to boo it.
And ask the Scots, Irish, and Scouse people.

Well done the Jack Army.

Don’t flatter yourself. You’re too trivial to upset anybody. Sometimes I read something which is so crass, dumb and futile that I can’t be arsed to compile a retort . I shouldn’t really have used that word since it transgresses Keith’s no-swearing code, but it was all I could muster, and it summed up my total contempt and disdain for what is obviously a very limited intellect.

Not much you can do about your limited intellect mate.

Try reading more, it might help a little.

Maybe typing less on the internet as well...?

If their anthem wasn't such a bad tune and all about wanting a rich woman (from a German family that decided they rule us) to be healthy and happy with nothing about the people themselves I might give a damn about whether people booed it or not.
