| Welsh homes for Welsh people 21:28 - Jun 1 with 7229 views | trampie | I noticed today a big banner draped over a bridge over the the M4 motorway close to the Llanelli turning saying "Welsh homes for Welsh people". House prices going up big time, lots of second homes in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire and now there are banners going up. | |

Society is turning into one of hate of colour. accent, nationality , age , gender. I know a certain poster likes to comment on a persons age but if todays society is the best we can offer than I'm glad my best days were then .

Thee people were very nice indeed. Sold up their detached house in Epsom and bought a small holding near Wrexham with the proceeds. The locals are nice enough too but none speaks Welsh and they don't really sound Welsh at all. The lake is God's blessing and if you DM me ,I ll tell you where it i as you could have a beautiful swim when you visit Frodsham which is 40 mins away. You would virtually have a lake to yourself. Nothing there apart from a village stores ,some posh/privileged /torybarsard type Gaffs plus some pensioner flats ,right on the mere itself. Im here for you

In the last 10 years the people I have gotten on best with have been...Polish, English (from Portsmouth) African (from Ghana & South Africa, Lithuanian and there was an Irish Traveller in there too.. Some of the Welsh people I've known in that time have been awful. The motto of that is, there's good and bad everywhere. The age thing Boundy, I worry about my sons future but yes, I'm very glad I'm 50 something. In the 80's at least you could poke fun at people without safe spaces being needed. Everyone seems so touchy like their big ambition is to be offended!

I can’t understand why this point isn’t more evident in the discussion. The only reason people from outside the area are able to buy is because properties are being made available. I assume ‘Greedy English people buying second homes in Wales’ is more attractive to some than ‘Greedy Welsh people sell homes to outsiders at massive profit’.

It's a mad argument Define Welsh, is that someone living in Wales or with Welsh parents or grandparents? Is this reciprocal, Welsh people can't buy a house in England? Can Welsh people have a second home in Wales? Can Welsh people have a second property in England? Can a Welsh person be a landlord in Wales and or England? Can an English person rent in Wales and vice versa? [Post edited 2 Jun 2021 19:37]

And can a Welsh person vote Tory. It has been posted on this very forum that such people are not welcome in a whole region. Can a Welsh person be wealthy without being called out for being rich or privileged. Can a Welsh person escape the bonds of the past ?

| Welsh homes for Welsh people on 14:48 - Jun 2 by felixstowe_jack | Makes you wonder why both the Welsh and Scottish government asked for powers to vary income tax. Surely a socialist policy to make the wealthy pay more tax for to build houses for those who cannot afford to buy. |
Define wealthy, really rich people can live anywhere, many countries have a Golden visa system where you can buy citizenship, last time I looked Portugal would offer a visa to anyone buying a property for £250K. Like many people I can work anywhere where there is a decent WIFI signal. If you over tax the rich, they move countries. [Post edited 2 Jun 2021 19:47]

The golden visa limit for Portugal is E280K and includes buying a house. So anyone who can pull that amount together can relocate, oh and if you have a pension you pay a flat rate of 10 per cent in tax. [Post edited 2 Jun 2021 20:00]

We were seriously looking at south west France /or Western Algarve when our grandkids came along and changed the dynamics. I would love to exit this island but the pull of grandkids growing up is too emotional a pull. Lucky buggers I say and good luck to them.

Thanks for the info and invite , but I think Dadsarmy 76 wouldn't approve . I'd love to spend more time in the area as I'd like to revisit Caernarvon castle ( cracking museum there ) my next planned sojourn is late June to St Asaph , where I will be sampling the delights of the area with a stop off at Chester for a management meeting ( excuse for a brandy or two )

It's a comone theme from a certain poster, anything anti English, anti Union and it's posted. The argument itself is so crazy as to be hardly worth taking seriously. The last genetically pure Welsh person died and was buried/burned etc a long, long time ago. Now we are all hybrids. The sooner humanity can move past nationalities the sooner things will improve, that's never then!

| Welsh homes for Welsh people on 11:45 - Jun 3 with 878 views | AguycalledJack | Here’s the crux of it. Theoretically, your welsh and your house is up for sale . The local young welsh couple offer you just under or equal to the asking price. The rival bidders from England, offer lets stay £30,0000 above asking price. Who do you sell your house to? | | | |

We're a mixed bag that's for sure ,that's what makes life interesting, The OP doesn't speak for me and I suspect many others . Be proud of where you come from and respectful of others origins , where we're born is purely accidental , how we behave towards others isn't.

We dont want thousands of English retirees pricing young welsh speakers out of their local housing Markets. The welsh government will have to act. Probably already too late.
