How long did you work on the turnstiles for and what seasons?

I did my first stint in 1983, my dad was working there and they were short staffed and they asked me to have a go. I worked there until Doug Sharpe put Robin in charge and it was ridiculous. We had a meeting to complain about our safety because we couldn't even shut the gates to our turnstyles let alone lock them and we were told to send our representatives up to see Robin who promptly sacked them for being troublemakers, half of us walked out, half stayed.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I worked there from around 1990 to 1997 so depending on when you left I may have met you. Robin Sharpe was a clown in his role at the Vetch.

I was deffo there in 90, I used to bump into Frankie Burrows quite a lot on my walk down past the centre stand, the miserable old git in the office often put me on away fans!

Edit, I think I quit in 92!

I don't remember any meeting about the turnstiles so maybe it was 1992. I eventually left because Robin Sharpe was a complete dick but that was another story.

personally I can't think of any situation where its justified that so called hard men pick on someone because they support the opposition team. Each to their own I suppose.

WBA v Millwall
Millwall supporters must be sick of idiots turning up for a scrap most home games. Let alone away.

And last night in Leicester, our old friends Napoli attacked fans with belts, I hope Leicester are ready for the Italian experience.

At 11.15pm, Leicestershire Police’s Leicester City events Twitter account said that a dozen arrests had been made, describing the behaviour of some fans as a “disgrace”.

They said: “All the excitement for Europe spoilt once again by the minority. CCTV will be viewed and those responsible will be held to account.

“Behaviour by some was a disgrace. Well done and thank you to those who didn’t get involved. Twelve arrests so far and counting.”

The match was City’s first European game with fans in attendance for over four years, since the Champions League quarter-final in 2017.

Maybe because I was brought up watching rugby. I don’t get the aggro, why would you want to have a go at the other fans ? Have a beer with them, chat about the game, makes no sense to me.

Gives the hard men ( cough ) the chance to fight in a large group surrounded by their mates and usually near police so it is broken up after a quick shimmy around handbags.

Nowadays only the 16to 21 year olds and the odd drunk old fella can be bothered.

One punch can kill. Why go to prison over a trip to a football match.

The Italians with their belts and knives ( stab the legs ) like to disrupt but rarely kill . Thank God.

All a bit said you ask me.

You don’t even need to throw a punch to end up in prison these days.

Nearly all the clips (with the exception of Leicester Napoli) are 16 year olds thinking it’s hard to get about 10 yards away from opposition fans & swing their arms in the air.

I know, it's sad and funny at the same time.

I dont feel an increase in crowd trouble.

Lots more cameras to capture it by 'it ' - nothing serious. The crowd trouble feels very mild.

Saturday night in Wind street would show more confrontations.

I’ve seen the worst of behaviour from Leicester rugby followers at Gloucester, mass brawling in the pubs after the game, many times. Of course because it’s in a pub it’s not related to rugby. Unlike football which can be related to the game a day later.

Been to Leicester away a few times. A bit mad up there. Someone set a flare off by the bar last time I was there.

What do the authorities expect when incidents happen in games like ours on Saturday? Assault ignored by the referee! The players need to show a good example . Lansbury should be charged by the Football League but because he had a yellow he’s going to get away with it.

When you have a team with Martin Johnson,Nei Back, and the Birkenhead lip then you will always have arrogance and this spills over into the fansbase.

We lost when I went there and I had a little physical spat with a local jerk whilst walking to ground.

I was early thirties then though

A selection of fans were removed from the stadium as a result and the crowd was then quickly brought back under control thanks to the stewards and security staff — with the incident taking place when the scoreline was 3-2 late in the first-half.

Unfortunately, there has been some crowd trouble in the away end throughout that first half,’ BT Sport pundit and ex-Spurs player Jermaine Jenas said at the break.

‘Clashes between fans and the police which saw a lot of fans removed from the stadium but thankfully, it is now calmed down.’

I think it’s gone away in certain places where it was rife, might spring up in other towns like a generation thing. Most I know here are hitting 50 and not going to get involved in a load of guff that’s no doubt being filmed. A few still go but more likely to see them in the family stand with their kids. Moving grounds and Chelsea away fa cup (the stitch up) was seen as the end for many.
Chapter over life is too short.
