The dog attack on 19:02 - Nov 9 by Wingstandwood

I can always remember a vascular surgeon who happens to come across 'pitbull-breed-type dog' bite injuries commenting on ITV News after yet another previous fatal attack. He asked why owners would possibly want a dog like that in the first place? He said that dogs like that are bred specifically to do damage, to fight and to be powerful.

The answer to his question why? There are people out there who are complete and utter t0ssers with zero-morals, intelligence, awareness and common sense, whom have no concern for others, whom are more than happy to risk children and others with a dog like that!

Agree 100%. Who the hell needs a large aggressive fighting dog for company? And having one around children with no adult supervision is an appalling dereliction of both duty and common sense

Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

Well this is the very dog that was responsible for killing the young child , it vindicates the consultant vascular surgeon's opinion! How could anyone be happy with a child around that THING!

Somebody bought that online. Safer with a live grenade in the house! It’s obviously a mentality issue, someone obviously too stupid to realize or do any kind of research to find out what they were taking on. And even more stupid to leave that unguarded in a house alone with children.

These dangerous dogs, they are banned and yet people continue to breed and sell them. isn't it time the law was changed, was made much more severe.

Shouldn't a dangerous dog that kills result in a murder charge for the owner?

Mind you I say the same thing about drunk/drug drivers who kill, charge them all with murder, minimum 20 years.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

ANY dog can be dangerous

Any jerk can go out and buy a Dog.

Think on that as regards its training and maintenance

Yes but not every dog is proscribed as a dangerous breed, you don't find Labradors and Spaniels on the dangerous dog list.

Any jerk can be banned from owning dogs too and the thought of a long prison sentence might well be enough to persuade them to honour the ban.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Dog bites and attacks are a big problem. A couple of colleagues (well one former as he is now at Dogs Trust) have an extensive research programme on dog bites and set this up initially with the Post Office/CWU and Merseyside Police:

https://merseydogsafe.co.uk

As I am sure OHL will attest 'Status Dogs' are a problem here as they are in South Wales. Inappropriate breeds for a family setting with poor control.

I have two small dogs (Bichon crosses) and they are not allowed off lead in parks or busy area. Neither are aggressive, but they like children and could easily bite in an interaction. Previously we had a JRT. Having a predator in your house is a responsibility.

This whole event is a horrible tragedy

Tragic Incident.

You are right about "Status dogs" - walk through any town and you'll see the chavs and the people who can barely look after themselves or their kids striding around with ferocious beasts unmuzzled and unleished. A frightening combination.

This all day long.

Tragic incident which was so avoidable. RIP to the lad, deserved so much more protection.

I had a cross Alsatian Malamute charge up to me the other day whilst walking my 3 small dogs, luckily he only wanted to play, but he came up to my chest and looked pretty fearsome. 10 seconds later the owner appears, "its okay, he's really friendly" No worries you complete t@@t, I'll just go change my kegs.

he said it was "grate with people" but there are reports of it growling at passers by. The blokes an idiot, in my opinion. He says he's not to blame but he knew the dog was a problem, it's why he sold it.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
