Austria are heading for a lockdown for the unvaccinated. They are banned from a lot of places already. Perhaps other countries will follow.

If a company brings in new safety regs and procedures to protect it's workers and assets and an employee refused to follow them, they are moved to another dept , but if no vacancies are there, then it's the gate and bye bye. Why should NHS workers be any different?
Ok great let’s sack 100,000 nhs workers and then somehow everything will be safe and great
If they sack 100,000 nhs workers, that 8 hour wait at A&E suddenly becomes 12 hours, the 18 month wait for a hip replacement suddenly becomes 3 years, the cancer screening you are waiting for gets delayed and so on and so no. Be careful what you wish for.
The idea of sacking 100,000 nhs workers from an organisation that is already short staffed, has got to be the most ridiculous decision that has ever been made. You couldn’t make it up. You also have people on this forum that support the sackings

Be thankful that 1.25 million NHS staff have had the common sense to be vaccinated. The 7% who haven't been vaccinated , yes, get them done.

Just the tip of the iceberg. My advice to people is look after your own health and encourage your loved ones too, because very soon unless you can afford private health care, there won’t be any help for you.
The nhs has already crossed the rubicon, with the threat to sack 100,000 nhs workers will mean thousands upon thousands will also die.

There are two distinct types of nutters though Jim, there are those who genuinely believe this is a worldwide conspiracy. Then are are the really sad types, the wstse of skin types who are on the anti vax bandwagon as a wind up, to get bites.
Those second types, they are the sad, pathetic ones, the type you imagine to be sat at home alone in dirty underpants with crispy socks.
Worse than both those types though are those who look to profit from the lies being spread. people with books to sell, youtube channels they want people to subscribe to. They are the most dangerous ones because they make up the lies and spread them on the internet.

I can't disagree with you. When already short staffed you don't want to sack another 7% of the workforce or you might just collapse.
Maybe Wales will benefit because we're not doing that here. Maybe we can persuade some staff to move here.

One thing the WG have got correct. Sacking people is madness from such crucial roles at crucial times.

It's worth bearing in mind, based on the SIREN study of immunity in healthcare workers following vaccination, 44% of the study cohort had been infected up to January 2021.
Employers have a duty of care to ensure health and safety of its workers, clients and visitors. Where vaccination mitigates against risk to any of those groups it certainly should be considered an employment requirement. My daughter has just had a series of vaccines to allow her to start her career as a student nurse. The decision of what she received was based on an occupational health interview which also includes FPP3 face fit testing. Now it's reasonable where there are genuine grounds to not be vaccinated, but as an employer there becomes a failing in duty of care.
As for OHL's point-it's a very valid one. Disbarment checks are done for all working with children. We do not allow sex offenders to work with children or other vulnerable groups as a duty of care. One could take the view this is entirely discriminatory against individuals convicted for a sexual offence. But of course we accept this as measure of child protection. Vaccination could be argues to be a measure of health protection.
The irony of posts here in the last day or so, defending a 17 year old illegally carrying and using an automatic weapon as self defence and is fine as one was a nonce, but chattering on about defending liberty by avoiding vaccines is striking. There a few on here who would do well to look at the utter contradiction in their posts.

I’m all for sacking the nhs workers who aren’t vaccinated, because that will solve the problem. We can all live happily ever after

Yes when I went to work in west Africa it was a requirement that I had to be vaccinated against a number of illnesses like yellow fever, rabies, I can’t remember what I had in total, there were about five or six different vaccines and some of them needed multiple doses. I had more pricks than Katie price over a relatively short period of time but without proof of those jabs I couldn’t take the job.

I have had similar through our work in East Africa and Malawi. And hepatitis B for handling blood specimens.
No vaccine certificate, not entry.

Haven’t you heard of passive smoking ? Also if it’s about saving the nhs as we are being constantly told, then smokers etc should be put at the back of the queue
Can you smoke in shops, pubs, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, buses, trains, planes etc, etc?
Do 10 - 20% of smokers end up in hospital within 10 days of their first cigarette?

You of all people should know that the 44% who had COVID do not need vaccinating and should not be vaccinated. Do you know that the US CDC has not got one single piece of evidence that any previously infected completely recoverd COVID patient has ever infected another person? To equate not taking an experimental vaccine with Criminal Activity and peadophilia is an absolutely vile accusation.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
The responses on here are pretty typical of late 1930s Germany.

Actually when you see real immunogenicity data (which I was privileged to see at a conference yesterday), the response to infection is marginally better than a single dose of vaccine. However, the 'natural immunity' is short lived and is increasingly evident re-infection is common.
Sorry, 'natural immunity' is poorly protective beyond a few months.
Two doses of Pfizer gives much greater immune response (antibody and T cell) than infection and a single vaccine dose and hugely better response than infection. The double vaccine also elicits much better memory. This will explain why efficacy to disease remains very high -a response is mounted to re-infection which limits the virus, whereas infection protection which will relies on circulating antibody will drop off). The longer gap used in the UK between vaccine doses actually favours memory responses and not antibody.
And this is a five centre study, so if you think Liverpool, Oxford, Newcastle, Sheffield and UCL are all wrong, I suggest you write to the scientists and clinician leading the work and not me.

Are you saying passive smoking isn’t killing anyone these days ? As for ending up in hospital within 10 days. 99.7 % do not end up in hospital with covid. People end up in hospital from seasonal flu, but don’t make everyone have a vaccination
