And you were not vaccinated, what would you do?

OK I've changed it.

No it is government & NHS BS, they are their numbers.

In some cases they may be - but they are misunderstood and misrepresented by idiots. As you demonstrate so well.

Just thought when I was taken on in 2016 I had to have a hepatitis B vaccine because I would possibly come into contact with blood products etc

So what's the difference vaccine are part of your conditional offer any way

Well obviously thousands of nhs staff would rather lose their job than have the covid vaccination.
That’s their right. Good on them I say. It’s the average person who will lose out, with an inferior nhs

Yes it’s a common requirement in several lines of work to have certain injections to protect against specific conditions. Anyone refusing without legitimate medical reasons should be sacked immediately.

You know 20 out of 1.3 million

Front line qualified staff totals 624,572. That includes doctors, nurses , heath visitors, midwives , therapeutic and technical staff and ambulance staff.

The other 700,000 are not qualified medical staff.

It would be interesting if someone actual publish proper vaccination figures per NHS working groups

I recall, having the Hep C vaccine Jim, had two tests if I recall, and wasn’t able to be protected. Item a few opportunities. Back in a time when there seemed to be less nut jobs about 😂

Would be Hepatitis B Keith. It’s not a very immunogenicity vaccine and not uncommon to need U.K. to six doses to be protected. You get tested for seroconversion after 2nd dose. I had four to get enough antibody

I can see this new ruling which I think comes in next year will be challenged immediately. Then the coffers will be open.

Again - there seems to be some kind of confusion over the vaccine’s effects. The double jabbed are NOT immunised. Their risk of serious illness and death might be reduced but they’re just as likely to contract and pass Covid on to vulnerable patients as are unvaccinated NHS or any other workers.

Just like the covid testing discrimination against the non vaccinated this in no way is a public health countermeasure. If everyone in the NHS is regularly screened against Covid that would be a public health countermeasure.

We’ve been over this on the 1 in 100/1000 thread (or whatever it was Builth Jack posted).

There's no confusion except in the minds of those who wish it.

I'm double jabbed. I knew I wasn't immune. I did however know that my risks of serious issues as a result of infection were greatly reduced by being so and that proved utterly to be the case. Anyone who is fully immunised can say the same. It's only the f*ckwit anti-vaxxers claiming otherwise.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I’ve already said that. You recognise your not immune. Now put an apron on and start working the wards - if you’ve picked it up and are asymptomatic you’re very likely going to pass it on to someone who’s not going to be able to survive it. Just like an unvaccinated person.

I then went on to say why not introduce a regular screening programme for all nhs workers. I can’t see what’s so wrong with that.

You’d be less likely to pass on COVID after vaccination because it’s likely your symptoms would be a lot milder (less coughing=less potential for flying mucus droplets) and your body would fight it off quicker. I tested positive in September and had absolutely no symptoms at all apart from feeling a bit tired.

Yes, very likely. Still significantly less likely than someone with no vaccination at all.

If I had a pint of beer and drove I might still get into a car crash. I'm less likely to get into a car crash than someone who has downed a bottle of Vodka.

Would you sack 100,000 nhs workers ?

Whatever ones thoughts on compulsory vaccination, I may be totally wrong, but I just can’t see this being enforced.

The NHS is already struggling and well short of the trained staff it needs, losing 100,000 or 8% of its workforce isn’t going to improve matters. I think Boris and Javid may be bluffing as was the former when he spoke about vaccine passports for night clubs in England etc.

Ah, the drink drive analogy - how predictable. Even if there’s a minuscule chance of double vaccinated people contracting the virus it’s a risk too far for vulnerable patients. Or is it a risk worth taking. I don’t think so.

The opposite. Everybody deal with them. Vaccinated and unvaccinated. With a good screening programme and good practices in hospital/care homes etc the risk is managed.

Pity you ignore me as we are on the same hymn sheet here.

Wife goes in for an Op next month and I dont want an unvaxed member of staff given the remotet possibility of getting covid. She's 69 and I reckon should be allowed to live for some time yet and not as Stump suggests simply be allowed to die as she is -to him-old.

Old people have as much right to live as young.

That's just wrong.

They are considerably less likely to be infected, with or without symptoms.

They are therefore less likely to pass the virus on.

The way to protect the NHS is testing and vaccination, including boosters when needed.

Not that I think we can afford to be sacking people who refuse the vaccine.

It has already happened in the care industry, who were also in dire straits.

Is it wrong? How much less likely (apart from the much parroted “significantly” )?

I’m all for the science if it backs up what you’re saying.

Even so, there’s still a risk, minuscule or massive - unless you’re saying otherwise.

The problem is screening isn't instant. get a PCR test and it's 72 hours til a result and the LFt's aren't good enough, not reliable enough.

I could agree with screening if it was good enough.

The thing about everybody being vaccinated would be, the vulnerable person will be safer if a Covid positive staff member or visitor came to them. That is the big point isn't it. We have t live with this virus and the vaccine will mitigate it's worst effets.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

How many times, vaccination does not stop you getting infected or passing it on.
But it does make people feel more secure, which is dangerous.
