| Is Martinball capable of bringing success to Swansea City ? Catch 22 for Russell on 15:52 - Feb 9 with 730 views | nantywatcher | Within the first weeks of his tenure I had a horrible feeling about Martin and posed the question "is Russell Martin a bullshi**er?" Did not go down particularly well - but wow was I right! His only chance of success is to take us down and in 3 years time get promotion out of League 2. He will never be any good as a manager unless some sort of wondrous epiphany hits him between the eyes. He's a little boy lost in a man's world and now the bullsh** has been replaced by the blame game. | | | |

Incorrect. In Steve Cooper's first league match we achieved 63 dangerous attacks, 19 shots (8 on target), 10 corners and just 4 passes shy of doubling that of Hull.

Like me.Winston, not for the first time hammered me and tried to ridicule me for suggesting Martin was a fraud. Well, there ya go J. Ive been right before and saw through this deeply disingenuous man in a few weeks. Ive spent many many years in management and interviewed countless people. I can smell a bullsytter even on the internet . When appointed,Martin utterly every management cliche possible. Im so sad our owners and board are so dumb.We needed a steady hand ,a steady Eddie and we got Russy

| Is Martinball capable of bringing success to Swansea City ? Catch 22 for Russell on 11:52 - Feb 9 by Dr_Parnassus | But again, even if we kept up the form of the first half of the season, we would have fallen short of automatics by 5 points plus a load of GD, essentially 6 points short. 43 points in 23 games in the first half of the season 37 points in 23 games in the second half of the season Watford finished on 91 points in second. We would have had 86 if we kept up the form of the first half of the season. We wouldn't have even moved up a place. Brentford had 87, we still would have finished 4th. |
It's not that easy, What if we did slightly better? What if we beat Wycombe and Barnsley, Cardiff and QPR then drew with Watford? If we hadn't gone all defensive things might have been very different and all that was said last season too. Another truth there is, if, in the January window the owners had let Coops bring in the striker he wanted maybe we would have done slightly better and Cooper wouldn't have gone down that road. We could have been back in the EPL and they'd be making profit now. I know hindsight is 20/20 but if they'd given Cooper what they've given Martin, things could be very different now. PS, just say we went out last season and beat Watford AND had those extra 6 points too, that would have been enough. There are so many permutations when you're talking possibilities.

On reflection though,I kinda feel for those who interviewed him a they will have been taken in by his "vision". Its all very well to impress at an interview though, harder to implement any plan. I dont believe anything Martin utters which is as I feel about all the rest of those who run the club. What about this imminent court action btw. I was told it would see justice metered out. Has it been abandoned or merely forgotten or shelved.

The court case is going ahead. it's had resloven in meltdown and he's hijacked several threads trying to argue against it, he even asked people to contact the trust and ask them to stop it. There is still time for Martin to change tack but as far as the swans go right now, I'm running on apathy. I don't even know who our next game is or where. My wife just asked me and all I could say was...dunno!

If I was part of the interview panel, extremely unlikely a scenario as that is, part if what I would be looking for is an idea how they'll look to make use of who is at the club and secondly who they'll look to bring in. There's no good joining the club and insisting on a whole new squad. Secondly, I wouldn't want to see a manager trot off a list of players from his current club or a bunch of million pound plus players. I'd want to see that they had a really good appreciation of players in a range of leagues. Martinez came in and signed, Scottish Dutch, Spanish players all for very little. Martin has come in with some MK Don's players and a couple of million pound signings. Then slated most of the existing players as incapable of playing how he wants them to. We really aren't in a position to be doing that financially | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I dont agree with the action either. It seems to have been delayed omewhat.I was told it was "imminent". How is it going to affect the club positively. Bottom line is we need to somehow jettison these owners. I am not bothered abiut looking backwards. Obviously the sale was warped but cant see it benefitting the club t all

It is that easy. That’s football, you can’t look back and want to keep all the fantastic wins in tact and turn the losses into wins. I mean, why not look back and say “why didn’t we win every game?”. It’s no different. 92 points we needed for automatics. We picked up 43 in the first half of the season which was remarkable, potentially our best ever half a season at this level… and you are complaining because in the second half of the season we didn’t pick up an even better 49 points (?!) from 23 games with a tiring squad, a star player recalled from loan and a refusal to sign a striker? If we hadn’t gone defensive to cover the shortfall we had up front and the disconnect we had in midfield we may not have finished in the playoffs at all. Cooper is a manager that manages situations not impose a style regardless of situation, as you are seeing now. If, if, if, if, if… it’s all unrealistic twaddle. If we won every game this year we would be top. If we won every game under Laudrup we would have won the league, he blew it. We have beaten them all before, no reason we couldn’t have again. What you are essentially saying is it Coopers fault that we didn’t smash Brendans record to smithereens with a far worse squad and a manager in his second season with no recognised striker. It’s barking. The fact we got to 80 points is remarkable, the fact you expected 92 as minimum is just laughable. Being “possible” and being the expectation is a world apart. It’s “possible” that Obafemi scores a brace in every single game from here on in… but blaming him when it doesn’t happen would be laughable, looking back and saying “but what if he scored 2 in this game, this one, this one, this one, this one, this one etc etc … then he would have done it, so it was possible… his fault, he blew it”. He (Cooper) equalled a club record with no real help in the areas he said he needed help in come January, with a squad that couldn’t hold a candle to 2011 the team who was managed by one of the best managers in the game. Unfortunately the fans are spoilt and didn’t realise what we were doing was remarkable. Now we have expectation levels in mid Feb, where we are delighted with a point as it takes us a bit further away from relegation zone falsely low due to deductions… but hey, as long as we pass it aimlessly in front of our own goal, it’s all good. | Is Martinball capable of bringing success to Swansea City ? Catch 22 for Russell on 15:48 - Feb 9 by ReslovenSwan1 | She was one of the 28 that put about a reported £30m into buying club shares and taking over responsibility for running the club. The 300 club jobs the academy the stadium the pitch the logistics etc paying tax National insurance and the multitude of various business standards, On average it would just over £1m each. This went to the sellers of course. The sellers appear to have given some of it back. The Trust invested £200k in 2002 and some of that money went to buying Petty's shares. They have also taken out in excess of £400k in dividends. |
Nothing you have said there counters the post you quoted. Does it.

| Is Martinball capable of bringing success to Swansea City ? Catch 22 for Russell on 14:55 - Feb 9 by ReslovenSwan1 | Are you actually a woman or any ambitions of being one.? Men usually do not comment on other men's appearance. This is a feminine trait in that respect. Conversely you could model yourself on Larry David who is probably a good friend of Mindi Kallin who may still be in the ownership group. I am a big fan of Mindi who has invested more of her money buying Swansea shares than the full 1200 member of the Trust ever have. She may have "chucked a few cents" into the convertible loan note. Beautiful feminine famous black, televisual owns Swansea city that ticks a lot of boxes for me. Everything I probably am not. |
Wow proper rattled at the moment aren't you. The propaganda campaign is in overdrive. So Mindy bought some shares when the club was riding high (we don't know how much - she's not keen on anyone knowing) but hasn't put any of her money into the club's coffers as far as we know. While the trust has been there from the darkest of times, have invested some of their money for use in running the club and have been active in the day to day running& decision making at the club ever since. The impact on the club of these two entities is frankly incomparable. It's bonkers that you think Mindy actually looks useful at all! A woman who has the means to help the club. But chooses to hide in the shadows of the murky Delaware holding company. Utterly bizarre. But again, I go back to my point. You aren't this dull, I know you aren't. But your lack of awareness is shocking.

It may not benefit the club immediately but there might be a big pot of money to rescue the club with in the future. Assume they get the 21 million (! million per share) and even if there's a large bill to be paid, end up with 15 million in the bank, if invested wisely it will grow and grow. We may not need it in my lifetime but one day there may be a need and who we gonna call? Not Ghostbusters certainly but hopefully the trust will still be there to save the day. Heck, the trust could even loan it to the club at a friendly interest rate, lower than a bank but higher than the current rate they get. 2% would give 300k per year back in profit.
