St Davids day seemed to much bigger when I was young in the 60s there were concerts and programs on tv ect, its eems more like a normal day now.

World Book Day is a bigger deal in schools and work places than St. David's day. Perhaps we should run a poll as to whether that should be a bank holiday, too.
Even pancake day generates more social activities than St. David's day. I'm not sure why a bank holiday is needed to celebrate it.
