It’s the last game before the next game, and despite a few let downs Swansea City are beginning to get things flowing a bit. Well, not really but they do score goals when they want to by all accounts. After a disastrous trip to Blackpool, then an astonishing performance against Peterborough United, we return to the B’s, not Brentford but the Blue Birmingham’s. Anything can happen, but It probably won’t.
It’s a 3pm kick off at the newly named stadium on Saturday 19th March 2022

Nondescript, toothless and lucky. That was Swansea City this afternoon 19th Mar 2022 17:15 To say this wasn’t a Swansea City classic would be the understatement of the season in a very slow and yet again ponderous ninety minutes or so at the swansea.com stadium. For Swansea it was a game of loose passes, a total lack of energy and when it’s all summed up a demonstration of how mundane Russell Martin’s style of play can be when it doesn’t click.0

Russell Martin has a Swansea City theory20th Mar 2022 10:10 It was potentially the most dire and boring performance we have seen from the swans this season. Even at the end, and for the first time possibly boo’s greeted the final whistle. But we do have to look at the reasons for such a poor showing after a hard fought win in midweek.1

Ncham, Wolf, Piroe, Christie, Smith, Grimes were passengers. Couldn’t believe how slow Burns is. christie did him no favours but at least Smith seemed be giving him support and encouragment.
If he was any slower he’d be running backwards

I would say only Paterson, Downes is more defensive type. It would have been better suited to play Dhanda yesterday instead of Korey Smith.
Smith was no worse than any other player yesterday. We had no one in the role Downes plays so there was nothing linking defence and midfield and no physical presence in front of the back three. The three in the back all had passes not reaching their targets because the targets couldn’t be bothered to make an effort. Dilemma … play short from the back and risk putting pressure on ourselves and the wrath of the crowd, play long and have one one work for the ball, play long and have the receiver fail to control the ball, bring the ball our of defence and have no one to pass to but higher up the pitch. I feel for Burns .. completely out of his depth at this level and, like Cabango, played out of positrion.

Cabango is being ruined. Can't bring the ball out ? Sheete. He has done and can shift until he meets with lack of support. Burns was brought in ? Why exactly? If a window is to strenghten ,why bring in kids who are not used to his "system" and in Ogberta's cae, clearly injured. Folks, this is nuts.

Actually there is reason to bring in younger players, for me anyway.

I was working yesterday. Didn't even get the radio until the last ten minutes. Radio Wales sounded abject. What was the game like? Were there any positives?

For me, Ogbeta showed promise. Apart from that no positives Fiisher made two or three smart saves but his decision making, communication and distribution was way off the mak.

At the final whistle RW were saying "why is Fisher taking so long to get the ball out".

I've had time to mull over yesterday's game and this is what I saw from the silence of the west stand, Fisher did reasonably well, some decent stops and has good disrabution, but is he any better than what we have? Wolf was impressive first half and then disappeared. Cabango did well and got forward with some good runs with the ball at his feet, lack of team mates making runs stopped several attacks. Grimes did well on times, kept things moving at a slow pace too often, but was a regular out let for Fisher, especially first half. Obafemi best player first half, but had to come very deep 2nd half to get the ball as Piroe. Chrisste was a decent performer, the rest were well unimpressive. We lack Creativity in midfield and pace, both with and without the ball going forward.

Not anything to argue with there. I would add Ogteba did well when he came on

Very decent assessment, without Paterson, Downes and Manning there was always gonna to be an issue.

Oh and playing Cabango on the left of a back 3 when he seems predominantly right footed? Square pegs round holes.
This has been brought up several times, not just with Cabango.
I have to ask, if Paterson, Downes and manning not being available causes us such a huge issue, wtf do we do if we sell Downes, Paterson is the wrong side of 30 and Manning is hardly our best player or even one of them.
Naughton is 33 and looks to be getting an extension, isn't he one of those who needs replacing? Where is the pace in our team? Why aren't we looking for pacey players?

The very fact Naughton could get an extension really does show where we are.
really it is shocking.
Naughton is a good pro but in no way outstanding and deceptively slow
He likes it down there ,so that's enough to get him another deal. FFFS

Back to Naughton bashing. There's a shock.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Naughton is the most experienced and by far the classiest footballer we have. Other players will learn and benefit from having him in both the team and the dressing room.
