| No 10 Covid Parties ... on 11:43 - Apr 15 by majorraglan | I was a key worker and worked through the pandemic. I’ve also got family working in the NHS some of whom were working on Covid wards caring for ill people and dealing with multiple deaths every day. As it happens I observed the law and regulations just like millions of others. If’d done what Boris had done I’d have been sacked. What’s gone on in Downing Street is disgraceful. I’m not on Tik Tok so have no idea what your talking about. I can’t comment on what others have done, I can only for speak for myself and my family. The rules and regulations were fully observed in our house. | | | |
| No 10 Covid Parties ... on 12:30 - Apr 15 with 1067 views | krunchykarrot | I worked through and i can assure you that i broke the rules on a regular basis in work, in fact it bacame a thing for the team to get a team chinese or Indian meal weekly. And yes we also had cake. The trouble is nobody informed me that it was a party!! The thing is i agree Bojo has broke his own regulations and should be held responsible along with those who baltantly did in downing st as they obviously thought that they were a load of crap. The mask fiasco has frightened people to this day, see they buried the report conveniently. | | | |

I don't like the way the media are reporting it, they are always interviewing relatives of people lost to covid, and them saying they couldn't see them at the end, why do the media take it to the extreme? Surely a fair comparison would be for them to interview people who say 'I missed out on a birthday party, for my 40th, and I'll never get that chance again, whilst they were drinking wine and listening to music' I feel the media, have blown this out of all proportion.

Reference your first paragraph, that’s exactly why Boris and the government have kicked the fan down the road, they are hoping people would just want to forget about it. The rules had a major impact on all of us, imagine losing a close relative and not being able to say good bye. The behaviour of Boris etc is despicable, they’ve gone for n the pi@@ when others are adhering to the time rules.

I agree, on a personal view , I didn’t see my parents for nearly 2 years as I wanted to protect them. More importantly, these are the people that set the rules that told the police to prosecute people who were doing what they were doing bit like I said before who is going to listen to him about rules in the future ? No one is

I agree in a way, but I also think the media are pulling at peoples heartstrings and manipulating them into thinking was more awful, than it really was. And just to say, I kept to the rules mainly myself, apart from the allowed once a day for exercise or shopping, I went out multiple times for a walk, I knew it never did any harm, because I never saw no-one.

TBF this is the point I was making, I kept to the rules except......I took extra exercise, I babysat for my daughter who was a key worker, I picked up a couple of cans and a bottle of wine when I should have been shopping for essentials only, I had a tradesman in to finish a job he had started the list is endless......... Boris had a slice of cake with work colleagues in an area they had been working all day. He did not go out to a party, unlike Stephen Kinnock who drove to London to visit his father on his birthday. Yes the rules should not have been broken, but there needs to be a bit of perspective.

The point is he had the gall to stand there at that podium lecturing us night after night about what we aren’t allowed to do knowing the minute the cameras switched off he had to rush back to enter his team into quiz night before his staff got back to Downing Street with carrier bags full of booze.

He took chairs to sit on because the delivery was so large he had to take a rest? Why did it need him AND HIS WIFE to break the rules and make the delivery? His tweet. Dad turned 78 today. Incredible, but true. @HelleThorning_S and I took a couple of chairs over, and sat in their front garden for a socially distanced celebration. Response from SWP. Hello @SKinnock we know celebrating your Dad’s birthday is a lovely thing to do, however this is not essential travel. We all have our part to play in this, we urge you to comply with @GOVUK restrictions, they are in place to keep us all safe. Thank you At the time neighbours were also reported as saying that both Kinnock and his wife went inside, now this could have been just to use the toilet, but who knows.

My personal view is that Kinnock was out of order and in the wrong, however his behaviour doesn’t come anywhere near what’s gone on in Downing Street. Boris was in charge, he set the rules, stood up in front of the cameras and told people what they could and couldn’t do. His claims he didn’t know the rules etc are ridiculous, if he really didn’t know the rules his fitness to lead the country has to be questioned.

Kinnock wasn't correct at all. His parents could have had supplies delivered by a supermarket of their choice which is what we did when I was told to shield. I didn't have ANY family members come to my house. In fact, when I was told to shield was when my wife was allowed to work from home and the car didn't move far for months, I just went out, started it up and drove it around the (admittedly quite large) block, which took 5 minutes. What Bojo did does need putting in perspective, it was wrong, dead wrong. The people who make the rules absolutely MUST follow the rules, if they don't then why should anybody else? When the people who make the rules think they are above following them it has ordinary people saying, what the heck, why should we obey and that starts to spread. When they pass laws in the future, why should we obey them if politicians don't?

I thought they were advised by scientists and others regarding the rules? They just relayed them onto the public? I guess the only question I would like answered over this, is the rules they were stating to follow, they didn't feel the need to do it themselves. why not? Did they know it was all BS? Because if people at the top of the chain, have such disregard for the rules, then that tells me, it was bs from the off.

They were being advised by scientists, but it’s down to the government to devise and implement the legislation based on what government believe to be appropriate. It’s ridiculous to think Boris wouldn’t have been at the discussions or at the very least be briefed in relation to what was proposed. He was top dog and had the nod on proceedings.

Of course, I'm not disputing he didn't know what he was doing, it's just the witch hunt after him, if the media and other people are going to do this, well they should do it to everyone. Whatever misdemeanour blow out it out of all proportion. Take for example this woman Eluned Morgan, done for speeding, now if it's anything to go by what's happened to Boris, we should have seen interviews of relatives grieving over their loss of a loved one to a speeding driver. https://www.thenational.wales/ Just my opinion, but it's not on what they are doing. If the media want to go down this route, to oust somebody from office, well do it too everybody.

Well it's the truth, isn't it. It's all blown out of proportion, that's why the media won't go and interview Bob from Essex who is complaining that he lost out on his 50th birthday party, and he will never have the chance again. No, they interview someone who has lost a loved one, and they couldn't see them in their last hours, it's pretty despicable if you ask me. Any misdemeanour could be done the same way.

But the media have taken it to the highest level, what happened with the party's, has nothing to do with people dying. Let's say conservatives lose the next election, Keir Starmer get's in, he takes his dog for a walk, and he's caught on camera not picking up the dog poo. Then the media interview across all channels, people who have lost their eyesight due to dog poo, would that be fair? Because that's what they are doing to Boris.

The proportion is lots of people died while lots of people followed the rules. The people that told us to obey those rules carried on as normal. They made fools out of millions of people but they broke the laws they while doing so. When the lawmakers are also the lawbreakers why should anyone ever again follow rules those people set? The government should lead by example.
