Yes but at 3 0 up we should see the game out and change the way we are playing,no need to go for more with open expansive football, just change our shape, they had to come out and then maybe hit them on counter every now and again..Martin is naive and inexperienced and it is showing..

Korey Smith gets the blame despite actually playing quite well when he came on. Never change Swans fans, never change. Last nights result sat squarely at RM's feet. To have two big central defenders on the clubs books and not have even one of them on the bench despite knowing that you're likely to be facing a forward line that tall is inexcusable. Once Cabango came off we were in real danger of being bombarded and so it proved. Given the capacity for defensive implosion we have shown all season we'd have had a job to hold firm in any case. Like Martinez before him, his issues developing a strong back line may hinder the progress he can make with us if he doesn't get it sorted. Obafemi had also run himself into the ground by about the 75th minute yet somehow was left on for the entire game. One knackered challenge that he couldn't make led to their third goal I think. We stopped being able to defend from the front. Given our habit of overplaying through the middle it just resulted in almost endless pressure. On the flip side, to be 3-0 up and cruising against the team sitting second in the table was also quite remarkable and does hint towards what we may be capable of if we can be defensively more solid. The difference, though, is that they they started shapeless and worked out how to get back into the game. We were great, and fell apart when it mattered. Credit to Martin for setting his players up so well in the first half, particularly Piroe. Let’s hope we can find an equally good player in the summer, despite losing Scott and now the man who was supposed to be managing our recruitment. But equally, Martin has to take the lion’s share of the blame for what happened in the second half. Blaming it all on dodgy refereeing won’t cut it - when is he going to accept responsibility?

| Swansea City v Bournemouth : Matchday Thread 21/22 AFTERMATH on 00:09 - Apr 27 by STID2017 | When all is said and done, what a great game of football. Yes we were robbed, they were dirty, should have had two sent off and the referee was awful ( again ). Also our disorganation at times was very disappointing. Our three goals were sublime. Theirs ... at least two of them shouldn't have happened ( why did Manning handle it ?) plus the last one should have been disallowed. All in all though considering there was nothing but pride on it for us, what an end to end game of football, full of excitement from beginning to end. Looking forward to Saturday and the same at Forest and unbeaten game number 10. COYS !! [Post edited 27 Apr 2022 0:16]

Entertaining , yes, also some good and bad things in that game that Martin should take on board and use/rectify for next season. Mannings was instinctive/havbit, that has now been outlawed . their 3rd was more diabolical and bad reffing, Cabango off was one changer, the other was us not taking control at 3-0, lack of a solid leader for guidance on the pitch, | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You are right RM is to blame whilst I have highlighted Smith RM should never have put him on in the first place. Jasper called it right...I think the better substitiution would have been Joseph on Christie to right back with Joseph filling the right wing slot Christie was playing. when Smith cam on Lati went to centre back and Smith right back Martin changed this when he took Wolf off moving Smith to the left side and putting Christie at RB. As I said earleir credit to Martin for the first 55 mins but for me he made the wrong call in putting Smith on. Again many on here keep on about it being about next season yet again Joseph is left on the bench until a minute to go surely now he should be getting more minutes...and last night we needed his pace and energy ans Congrave too yet Martin thought better.

| Swansea City v Bournemouth : Matchday Thread 21/22 AFTERMATH on 09:56 - Apr 27 with 1487 views | RichardO | At least we know now how to attack, lovely to see throw ins varied, some over the top behind opposition defenders to forward running midfielders getting beyond our forwards open the play up nicely. I have always liked the fact we employed the high press on the opposition but it can leave our centre forward and wingbacks doing a lot of leg work which includes sprinting if the press isn't properly organised, the back needs to push high up the pitch which given our lack of pace at the back could cause problems but not as many as having to face an aerial bombardment as we did it the last 20mins. Surely a number of wingbacks or the centreforwards need to be changed on 70mins as many of our managers have done in the passed to give the defence some relief with a viable out ball. | | | |

Put it this way Just 2 weeks ago we were 4-1 up against a team just above relegation zone We blew it Last night against a team that will be back in the Prem ,we were 3-0 up and going well ,scoring fine goals. We blew it Learning from mistakes is key Burns is 6 foot 5,as is Kieffer Moore. Korey Smith not a right back.

Who could RM have brought on from the bench instead of Smith. Or, who could he have brought on who wasn't on the bench and amonsgt the playing squad, including the U23's. That's the problem RM is dealing with. Small squad with very little experience.

this has already been discussed he could gave brought on Joseph..and put Christie to right back...a player unlike Smith used to being in that position whilst giving us some fresh legs and extra pace up front. How will we ever know if Joseph is any good...we keep hearing it's now all about next season yet Martin seems reluctant to throw the dice on "promising " youngsters. Why isnt Burns on the bench he could have come on if he had been there. we had a squad lacking in depth last season...especially in the goal scoring dept yet we still managed to get to a play off final....Last nights capitulation was down to mismanagement....

Joseph has size and is physical and has a little pace. Burns is very very tall. Both these attributes would have helped us defend that lead. It is down to incorrect subs and lack of guts and guile. How would a poll for the most underused player go 1.Burns 2.Joseph 3.Hamer We have the talent but I fear many will be off this summer . I dont accept the notion they buy into what the coach is doing probably as they don't now what it is. Bournemouth are a hard, stubborn, big awkward team who like to put their foot in and intimidate opponents. We fall for that all the time. How Piroe must feel God knows.A stella striker who is going to be a real force.

It could be Vetch but I have pledged not to antagonise of go ott so as not to upset people. I am clearly a scrote and have been brought up to be a spoiled ,entitled brat . I feel for my missus. We were discussing our goalkeeper in bed last night and I was reflecting on our keepers of old. I wake up sometimes in a real sweat . I basically believe most on here are on a huge wind up and we (you me and angry) are being taken for mugs as nobody in their right mind could possibly post that which we see on here without there being an undercurrent of levity. We need it for sure. Next season,I'm hoping Martin goes (anywhere) Fisher goes too,as his aide de camp Korey Smith flies away Grimes gets sold -not sure if anyone would have him though Ntcham gets fit Piroe likes the new incoming coach Joseph is given a chance Burns either goes back to Citeh or is given a real run in the team Downes signs a longer contract and given the captaincy. I know, more chance of me and killy becoming man and husband Enjoy the summer .THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE. Im off to Anglesey for the Forest game. I cancelled the airbnb in a fit of pique that now seems well justified. We will be spending loadsa money to put into the Welsh economy and sustain jobs for locals.

I agree but why do the players escape criticism? They seem to lack the guile to close games out from winning positions. Is it a mentality issue? I’ll say one thing about Cooper - his sides were far better organised and mentally tough than the side we have now (barring the play off debacle). A special mention for Joel Piroe - two superb strikes and a heavy involvement in the third goal just goes to show what a fantastic all round footballer he is. 24 goals in this side would be thirty plus in a Fulham or dare I say it Forest. He deserves a better manager but I so hope he stays here.

Thing is, I don't think we played much football in the last 20 minutes. We just kept lumping the ball aimlessly up the pitch as the pressure built. There were no calm heads, no attempts to keep possession and try and gain a bit of control. once Cabango had gone off we had no one to win the headers, they put Moore on and went high and long and we had no idea how to deal with it. There was nothing from the bench in the way of a tactical change to try and stifle what was going on. In the end we were lucky to draw. A big, strong team like Bournemouth and we had nobody on the bench to counter the high ball. it seems a bit naïve to me.

Stems from the Captain, Grimes is a decent enough player, but a Captain he ain't and in fairness it shouldn't all be down to the Captain, any team worth its salt has 2 or 3 leaders, Martin can only do so much from touch line, he's not on the field, I do criticize him for not having a CB on the bench though, that was a crazy decision considering the bean poles Bournemouth posses Just watched Liverpool and there's leaders all over the pitch in that Team, to leave it to one player alone is crazy, they should be encouraged to be vocal by way of training sessions, we seem very quiet on the field, Oba and Christie are some times vocal, but few other's are Manning maybe. Henderon is one of the best captains and leaders in modern times.100% club man who drives players on whether he is on bench on the field of play. Nobody slackens off or is allowed to stroll through games and allow the opposition to take the game by the scruff of the neck. We have been appalling in this aspect and this is down to Grimes and the coach. The evidence is right there in front of us and all I see are excuses. We need to raise our expectations and get our chins off the ground. We are better than this. We were respected;now we are ,as Chris Wilder say" a team that always gives you a chance.
