Compare a Greggs custard slice to a Jenkins , there is no comparison imo . There's a Portuguese guy set up a one man busim ness on the roundabout next to Johnson's Dry cleaner by Asda . He sells cracking chicken pies and the Portuguese tarts are out of this world .

The club should have taken over F&B's and turned it into a supporters club pub!

You only need to pop into Landore social club on match day to see what can be achieved

The club running somewhere for a drink on matchdays In direct competition to the stadium facilities? Never going to happen. Besides, quite a few people thought that matchday income alone would be enough to turn a profit on a pub near the stadium. Not many managed it. The Mexico Fountain opened and closed about half a dozen times and most of the rest of the local bars have gone through management rapidly. The Cooper's is currently closed again. My mother kept the Globe busy enough with sports teams and entertainment but it was often a slog. Glad she's sold up and out of it now.

An outside venue selling the same beer at the same prices? Look how busy they were on matchdays, I'm sure it was fairly busy for the egg too. Local pubs are dying a death, one right next to the stadium stands as good a chance as any. Saying that mind, I refuse to buy beer inside the ground because its expensive and utter crap. The best thing they could do would be to stop franchising out food too and have an in house facility. I'm sure there's local chefs/cooks or somebody who could provide better food for cheaper and charging 2.80 for a small bottle of pop is scandalous.

It would have to branch out. Food, pool/darts teams etc. Matchday income alone wouldn't make it viable. Especially post-Covid when people have gotten used to drinking at home. I think they have taken catering back in house haven't they?

They may have, I don't buy food or drink there. Covid was a game changer and the game may not ever change back.

Add the Swans and Osprey match days together and the total is about 40 that leaves 325 days a year they need to cover and that's without a profit. It needs to be a 7 day a week venue like Costa and Greggs to survive.

The other thing with Ospreys fans is that they don't drink a lot outside the ground. Pubs don't do an awful lot of business, and not just because the crowds are so poor. Think they tend to go back to their local clubs instead.

Always said this they would make a killing on match days and then as soon as the final whistle goes get a band in there for an hour or so after to keep people there. Mid week get curry nights going with live premiership games, football & rugby world cup, Euros, Wales qualifying games, comedy nights, small bands....etc the list is endless. Macclesfield do a very similar thing.

Good call, kind of a themed sports bar. Chuck in burgers, maybe some burritos and pizza and it could do well if it was done out and competitively priced.

The matchdays would be the big single earners but obviously they'd need to make money the rest of the year. They'd need to do good food and have Sky and BT sports showing the big games which aways brings people in. Part of the demise of local pubs is the demise of local sports leagues. You just don't have the number of people playing darts, pool or football anymore. What can be done about the slow death the pub trade is battling against I don't know. There has been a culture change, pubs used to be a community place, we all met there. AS I once put it, to us oldies (50+) it was our social media. Young people get tanked up at home now and meet down Wind Street later on. Even Wind street is s ahdow of what it was 20 years ago.
