A lot of this has happened today once again! Wasn't superb but getting 3 points away to a team very much capable and a manager fighting for his life was a potential banana skin. Well done Swansea City.

I saw us slipping back into bad habits and that materialised in their second goal. We defended deep and conceded the penalty (a really soft one agreed) and luckily Benda was in top form and produced a magnificent save. I worry about the lapses in concentration which top sides don’t have. We need to be much stronger mentally (ironically what Cooper sides had - that real mental toughness) and continue to keep possession and turn the screw even when ahead, no mercy shown to the opposition. We’re capable of playing lovely one touch right football at times and we need to keep this going - not allow the opposition to wrest the initiative off us. The subs absolutely displayed this tough mentality - Ntcham giving one of his best displays in a Swans shirt and Obafemi the same and rounded off with a fantastic finish for the match winner. Things to work on - loads - especially turning over possession in our own half - WBA could have had 5 goals of their own easily but for a combination of rubbish finishing and fine goalkeeping from Steve Benda. I’m as easily carried away as the rest of you but as fine an away win that was it could have easily been a defeat. Let’s hope the players continue to work on eradicating silly errors at the back and work hard on their individual and collective belief in themselves. Because that’s the true factor in deciding whether a team succeeds or fails. Let’s hope we turn the corner and continue to improve - top six is easily attainable if we do - let’s develop a more ruthless nature and start putting teams to the sword. |
Defending was poor at times, their penalty from the free kick, second goal wide open spaces, and the first should have been cleared. Can’t play like that on Weds or it’s a defeat for sure.

Exactly. But there’s no reason why we can’t improve - a tactical rethink I’d the key from Martin. We’re very close to being a very good side in this league and it’s mostly defensively

No I wasn't happy with the full 90 minutes, I rarely am. The defending needs to improve greatly and we need to manage games better. But we are improving significantly. There seems to be to many egos around the squad and this needs to disappear. I still feel with Obafemi up front with Piroe and Cooper behind him we will beat anyone.
