I think Forest made a big mistake in bringing in so many news players. They needed some new blood, but the changes they’ve brought could have destroyed the team spirit and camaraderie the squad developed on their fantastic run last season. In my opinion, they’d have been better off buying a few new players, continued rebuilding and steadying the ship with the riches from the PL.
In the event of relegation (which lets be honest is a fate that hits a lot of newly promoted clubs) they’d have a decent squad, parachute payments and a manager in preparation for a fresh crack at promotion to the PL. As it is now, if they go down they may end up in serious financial difficulties with a squad a players on big bucks who need to be moved on. | | | |

Agreed.
Never wise to being in 20+ players. I can’t imagine he was too happy he was put into that position which probably explains why he refused to sign his new contract.
It’s essentially a brand new team, they don’t know each other and don’t know him. I guess by the time they start to be able to play together it may be too late. But if they can finance the squad for the next season they should go straight back up and can build from there.

I don’t think he had any sort of reign on transfers, has the feel of January about it when he was given Kieron Freeman, Jordan Morris, Conor Hourihane, Ben Hamer and Paul Arriola when all he wanted was a striker.
I think if promoted with us then the ownership would have made moderate funds available to which there would be a sensible plan in place to progress. I can’t imagine they would try to sign every player under the sun and then say “there you go” to him as they have done this season.
But I also think he wouldn’t have kept us up. Our squad was awful, has any permanent player in that side been picked up to go to the Premier League? I can’t think of one. We had no business getting promoted. | |

Yes forgot about Roberts, very true.
Although as you say, he very quickly became a championship player again, it really was a poor squad.
Forest is now that poisoned chalice again, and it’s their own doing. What got them up was the team spirit, they also had a poor side one or two players aside - that’s now destroyed with a whole new team brought in.
I’m sure if it was up to Cooper he would have preferred a more gradual influx. | |
