Swansea City v Wigan Athletic : Matchday Thread 2022/23 23:35 - Nov 2 with 9124 viewsNotLoyal

The thread with the real numbers !

Wigan is a test that Swansea City must not fail 3rd Nov 2022 12:55
Russell Martin looked a tad despondent after the frustrating loss at Preston North End on Tuesday night. And you can understand why, you set a team up and when they return no dividends until late on in the second half after changes it must be not only annoying, but mentally challenging. 0

Swansea City smashed for six at home ! 3rd Nov 2022 19:51
It was Saturday 6th April 1991, Wigan Athletic were the visitors to the vetch field under the guidance of Bryan Hamilton and the attendance was 2,869. One of the lowest crowds of that season in which the swans had gone eleven league and cup games without a win, in fact not even a draw. 0

Russell Martin’s dilemma : Manning up or Olivier twist ? 5th Nov 2022 08:00
Swansea City set out this afternoon to take all the points after last nights positive result for Preston North End saw them slip in to fifth place in the championship ensuring the swans fall to eighth. Two away games over the past seven days where Swansea haven’t really performed to the levels expected. 0

Swansea City: Steven Benda, Nathan Wood, Ben Cabango, Joel Latibeaudiere (captain); Armstrong Oko-Flex, Jay Fulton, Ollie Cooper, Ryan Manning; Luke Cundle, Joel Piroe; Michael Obafemi.

Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Harry Darling, Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson, Fin Stevens, Kyle Naughton, Matty Sorinola.

Wigan Athletic: Jamie Jones, Will Keane, Jack Whatmough, James McClean, Tndayi Darikwa (captain), Charlie Wyke, Curtis Tilt, Max Power, Nathan Broadhead, Jason Kerr, Tom Naylor.

Substitutes: Sam Tickle, Callum Lang Joe Bennett, Josh Magennis, Graeme Shinnie, Jordan Cousins, Thelo Aasgaard.

My players didn’t listen to the detail. The explanation by Russell Martin on Wigan Athletic 6th Nov 2022 12:25
Experience won the day yesterday as Wigan hung on for a point at the swansea.com stadium. There was an extreme amount of dissatisfaction in the stands as well as after the game. However, surely the experience that Wigan clearly possess would have been the first hurdle for this young swans side to manage ? 1

Sorry, can’t agree. We don’t have the personnel to be out of sight in the league. Mix that in with the lack of tactical nouse (you called it common sense or lack of, fair play) then we are mid table at most.

If what I read on the other site that Martin was screaming at Oko-Flex from the off and pulled him at HT because he wasn’t following orders then that is very damning of Martin. He was a ray if hope with a bit of pace and could have done a bit of damage second half,

You have to wonder.

Martin simply can’t manage a football team. His “process” is a non existent bullsh*t exercise. Shocking

yes 2 nil down and we are passing sideways abd backwards but we were dominant and passed them of the park

Yep, Cabango was doing his nut with the back line and midfieled to get the ball moving forward.

Maybe not out of sight but you know what I mean……….
Game after game we watch from the stands (maybe a privileged position )and we can see where the problems are.
We are so slow in moving the ball and making the most of opponents mistakes.
It’s really frustrating to watch.
It just seems that a few simple tweaks would make so much difference.
But we have to stick to the process 🙄

Not just me then thinking this
If we can rid ourselves of Aruss and appoint a pragmatic man in his place ,we can see players playing in their best position and the end of suicide defending.
We have the players

We could get a play off place

The Board have to be brave and objective and reject the Martin trite shyte

We were outdone by bad marking at the corners if you keep chopping and changing the back line time and time again your going to suffer at theirs and our set pieces and in general play.

We seem to get into a shape that worked and got us back in the game at an Ideal time but instead of pressing on with one of the few players who was causing real problems he substituted Oko-Flex at half time????

It is almost as if Martin has to blame somebody for his mistakes, the fall guy this time was Oko-Fllex with Paterson not adding a lot until other substitutions at the sixty minute mark.

On the question of Grimes missing I thought we had a little more about us at times so don't think we missed him.
Fulton, Cooper, Cundle, Naughton and Ntcham have a lot more about them and when they play the ball into feet they always have better movement to get the ball moving forward by giving the man receiving the ball options.

Is C##T and approved word? These days? I realise the poster is a recognised "grandee" of the forum and has some influence but readers will be off if language goes down the tube again.

As Keith and Sir Jon have requested time and again, if something offends just report it ?
As for being a "grandee" and having some influence, not sure where you got the idea OHL was either ?

OHL is out of bile right now.
We had a Leader article suggesting this was a game not to fail.
We did

I’m unsure what Resloven is on about, is there a general belief we can read 20k posts a day ?
REPORT IT WE WILL DEAL WITH IT.
Any more allegations of favouritism and off that person goes.
