| Wales fans refused entry in to the ground tonight on 15:26 - Nov 22 by Flashberryjack | Maybe we should ban the burka in this country as a sign of our solidarity for the oppressed women of Iran. |
You think it is a good think telling women who want to wear the burka that they are not allowed ? How about we let them dress how they wish ?

Other matters apart from a Burka cause offence. I don’t like facial tattoos or piercings and I d ban them myself. I don’t think one wear a swastika either

You can stand on a street corner & preach racial hatred, fly an ISIS flag even walk down the street with a swastika on your arm without getting arrested. This country has gone way to far in allowing people (of any race/religion/sexuality) to do whatever they want. |
A anti Team GB flag was confiscated at a Wales match a few years ago. Football in FIFA and EUFA ban all political slogans. Remember the "poppy" debate? It is not a matter of the issue whether it is good or bad. They do not want their tournament focus points of protest. Messages on shirts were banned an associated with a booking irrespective of what it said FA and FAW absolved their responsibility to observe this by "leaving it to the players" . This was weak wristed management typical of weak managers. The FA then had to tidy up the mess of the players supporting an organisation suited to Black US urban sink estates not High Wycombe. In these estates where the father is long gone mixing with criminals in and out for detention and prone to drug induced violence and homelessness it is logical to promote a maternal commune life over the traditional family and a have a disgust for law and order for preserving paternal rights. It is not o the job of the FAW to actively promote LGBT lifestyles in Arab countries. It is not the job of the Qatari FA to promote anti abortion issues in the west which have traction in the USA. No political in sport unless the games themselves are discriminatory. (Apartheid South African example ) [Post edited 22 Nov 2022 18:15]

'Ban something in this country? You can stand on a street corner & preach racial hatred' No you can't very much against the law 'Fly an ISIS flag' Arguable, depends on the context 'even walk down the street with a swastika on your arm without getting arrested.' Again, it depends, there are some suggestions that it predates Nazi Germany and that there is a movement to reclaim it from the Nazis. There is a reasonableness defence but it would depends on why the person had it and what, if anything he did or said when it was displayed. if he was walking through a Jewish area eg, he would, very likely be arrested and successfully prosecuted. 'This country has gone way to far in allowing people (of any race/religion/sexuality) to do whatever they want.' Again no, in fact recently the law has been tightened to clamp down on these very things.

”…there are some suggestions that it predates Nazi Germany.” It’s an ancient symbol, John. Though if you are looking for a usage that immediately predates the formation of the NSDAP you’ll find it on the doorstep. During the Great War it was adopted as the logo of The National War Savings Committee and adorned war bonds, savings stamps etc.. Here’s an example of a committeeman’s lapel badge. It also adorns a lot of British war memorials right across the home nations. The next time you’re home take a walk down to The Cenotaph on Mumbles Road and check out the corner motifs on the memorial plaques.

Remember that biopic when Gary Oldman played Sid? The producers changed out the swastika for a hammer and sickle, imagining I suppose that a symbol that presided over the death of 100 million victims was somehow less offensive to viewers. 😊

Spot on, it took a lot away from the actual truth. And that was years ago. A really long time before the country went bonkers.
