| Jenkins & Martin / Consortium Takeover 10:36 - Feb 26 with 6122 views | sw02sea | I’ve raised this issue a few times over the years, so I’m well used to what will be the usual abuse thrown at the suggestion. “Greedy barstewards, sold the Trust down the river, bla Dee bla. “ So, a simple question. Are you peed off enough with the present situation ie. The Yanks, Winter, Martin and his never ending back room staff, plus the “Dominating” walking football style, to go “Back to the future” if the aforementioned duo + a consortium came up with a plan? (Better than PLAN A ? 😗) | | | | |

| Jenkins & Martin / Consortium Takeover on 13:24 - Feb 26 by STID2017 | Surely when a club hasn't enough money to make tough decisions regarding their manager and are not seen within 3,000 miles of us, that isn't what you class as well run ? I know there has been much debate on that recently |
Not sure of the purpose is of owning a football club is ,if its not to make you money because they don't have any affinity to the Club , that can be the only reason and if its not making them money there's sure as hell not going to spend more that is necessary to keep us afloat

Levien and Silverstein have affinity to the club. What should they not?. JS has spent considerable tie in the Swansea are and engaged with the fans online and in person. They have more affinity than say Reynolds and co at Wrexham. The have invested more buying shares and injecting new money. They could easily let the club slip into league 2 and reduce losses and 'keep the club afloat' simply by laying most staff off shutting the academy shop and all non essentials. The staff could be cut to the bone. The plan is to return to the Premier league. Had Martin not had this terrible run new signings would have appeared in January. I believe they have lost faith in Martin's ability to get a top 6 position, attract new players and resign existing players. Swansea in the Premier league would see them more than double their money. | Jenkins & Martin / Consortium Takeover on 12:41 - Feb 26 by 1983 | Can't see those coming back anytime soon football is forever changing even since they left, they took on the club and fair do's to them for doing that, they put in their own cash along with a few others but the seeds they planted created a big fat money tree which in all honesty they didn't expect but then greed took over...the rest is history |
I do not recognised the lazy characterisation of the sale of the club to people who wanted to buy it and had a bigger budget as "greed". The sale was in the best interests of the club. The board members wanted to sell up after 14 years of brilliant work and told everyone they could not compete with £50,000 a week salaries required nor could they prevent the club falling down the leagues if relegated. If you take out valuations of the club (which they built up) they simply bought 80% of the club in 2002 and sold 69% of it (a controlling interest) to rich US owners in 2016. It is successful business trading not greed. The 21% shareholder was introduced to US buyers twice and could not agree deal with either of them. They did not understand that selling in the Premier league was the best way to increase influence as influence comes with cash over the long term. Clever use of forums and pseudo biblical narratives referring to 'greed' turned the fans against the people who had done so much for the club an a ludicrous 6 year legal farce. They were give 6 years to make a case and ended up agreeing to having their legal cost covered over tea and biscuits.

You can't honestly believe your first paragraph , we have 28 owners (last count) all spreading their wealth across many institutions with the hope of increasing their wealth and if not written off as a tax loss , whereas Wrexham have 2 owners who appear so far to be totally committed to the Club and I'm guessing that Reynold & McElhenney have been to more games in 3 years than our lot in 8 years and if you can prove otherwise then the floor is all yours .

Ask yourself why they couldn't "compete with £50,000 a week salaries required " 50,000 a week weren't required that was Jenkins fault as he decided he had the remit to take on the role of DOF buying overpriced players when he found out he was out of his depth or bringing in managers not fit for purpose , stop deflecting the blame a lot of our current problems stem from Jenkins tenure and no one else's

| Jenkins & Martin / Consortium Takeover on 21:51 - Feb 26 with 1404 views | Dr_Winston | It is quite tiresome to see people still maintaining that the club was sold in an effort to maintain its competitiveness as opposed to it being sold so certain individuals could cash in. I have no real objection to people cashing in. Just be honest about it. Don't pretend that the club was sold for its own benefit because that is and always has been obvious boll*cks. | |

Selling was a win / win for everyone including the Trust if they had shown some common sense. Make money while helping the club. Morgan and Jenkins had been bought up in normal businesses and knew they were operating at above their financial level with massive levels of jeopardy. Paying certain staff £2.5m a year would have been daunting. Gomis / Ayew bought in on frees. a) The existing owners could not fund a PL team for long. b) They all wanted to sell. c) Buyers wanted to buy it. It happened and it was for the best. Levein looked particularly chilled recently. He and his investors followers are seriously in profit if aligned to DC Untied. He and his chums will strategically invest and be patient. It has served them well up to now. Martin will probably be forced to take on experienced help in his corner. If he refuses he will be moved on.

I really can't understand why people respond to the poster, its the same spiel he comes out with all the time, best to treat the poster for the comedy value in the posts he writes. I've given up responding, I just read posts to gimme a giggle, I don't read most of the stuff though to be honest just stuff I cherry pick for its comic value.

It was a farce because the 99% did not pay attention to the details The Trust had one job in the 2010 -2017 period. That was to make very sure that they were on the same train as everybody else and sold shares at peak value in the Premier league. it was a "no brainer". Members had no incentive to force the board to sell shares because there was no aspect of personal gain. All other events are related to this failure. Once they had failed it was over.

There is no point talking about the Shareholders agreement unless you know what it says. What missing minutes? The Trust were given 4 months to cut a deal and were not excluded. They were introduced ti the buyers in March 2016 with cash in their pockets to buy their shares. The club completed the deal in late July 2016, Why they did not sell is a matter for the members to work out.

They have been fabulous for Swansea City and delivered success for more than 12 years. More praise is appropriate. You have no need to be troubled by this possibility. They have been mugged by the curse of modern world namely social media and people able to frame a narratives that fits with fans backgrounds. In south Wales working class pseudo Christian socialism. It is not difficult to push emotional triggers. No one was to blame for relegation and there was an element of bad luck, but that is not how Swansea fans operate. I recall Malcolm Struel's Jaguar being torched in the Vetch Field car park in the early 80s. Relegation was inevitable. Only Everton outside of the big 6 clubs have not spent time in the second division.

But what about the prior 4 months, Jenkins signed a pre-sale agreement in December 2015, told the trust about that deal in March 2016. Not sure about missing minutes but there was made up minutes in July 2016 that were a total fabrication, no meeting took place yet these minutes were fundamental to the sale of Swansea City and were lodged in companies house.
