This govt has been in power for 13 years. The buck stops with them and them alone. Stop making excuses for their incompetence and admit ownership of this problem

I'm not making excuses for anybody. I'm pointing out they are useless, all of them from whichever side you support.

Blairs government made this problem much worse with their attempt at social engineering.

This government is utterly rubbish, when have I said different? That doesnt excuse previous governments from being rubbish too.

What problem? We have been told for decades that immigration is fantastic for our country. They all contribute to the economy, they bring incredible culture and most of them are neuroscientists, doctors and nurses. So letting in a couple of hundred thousand Albanians unchecked means that surely the government is doing a wonderful job?

"All refugees welcome" in a man-child student activist WOKE type of way, hey!!!! This guy sure does as the old saying goes "offers diversity".

Bear in mind the staggering hypocrisy of these people.

57 thousand people were granted visas last year to come an fill job vacancies.

Before Brexit these posts would have been filled by EU nationals. Now we’ve taken back control all we’ve done is replace EU economic migrants with non EU economic migrants.

These people are working in our hospitals, teaching in our schools etc. My new dentist is Ecuadorean.

Yes, migration is important for our economy.

I have noticed that the very idiots who want a free-for-all "all comers welcome" immigration policy, do often indeed belong vastly more to leafy middle class suburbia than any council estate. University lecturers indoctrinating their students hey!

Metropolitan elite types also, as described by (of all papers) The Guardian as public sector "Islington sociology professor" stereotype(s), that even The Guardian recognised to be of type to be living in a parallel universe and bubble. And add Lawyers to the list also.

It's quite remarkable how 'thick-educated-fools' are so detached from all common sense, the real world and the bleeding-bloody-obvious itself.

The simple equation being....."You import criminals? Then you get criminality as an end result". Way too complicated an equation for some.

Nope.

That was in response to Joeses’ post on general immigration.

Again, nobody is calling for unlimited immigration (apart from the odd extremist).

Nobody is saying that illegal Albanian criminals should be welcomed with open arms. It’s just that that the dog whistle barge and Rwanda type policies won’t fix it. It’s the government pretending to be tough.

This feeds the phoney culture wars where some shout WOKE at an imaginary foe.

Woke was a really important word when it was used to call out ridiculous and dangerous liberal ideologies but it’s been hijacked by angry people to describe things they don’t like, such as laws they don’t agree with, women footballers and the amount of black people on telly.

3rd paragraph is disputable
Have a look at some of the banners at protest marches
Albanians by far the most organised, vicious professional, ruthless criminals you will encounter.
I hope you and your family do not.

54% of Albanians who crossed in small boats in 2022 were granted asylum. I’m sure there were banners in some protests that welcomed them.

I’ve yet to see a banner that reads “Welcome Albanian drug dealers”.

They are not illegal though.

Lord Justice Edis, Mrs Justice May and Sir Nicholas Blake said that asylum seekers who are intercepted by authorities in the Channel, or who are taken into immigration detention after reaching a port, have not illegally entered the UK.

As the law presently stands, an asylum seeker who merely attempts to arrive at the frontiers of the United Kingdom in order to make a claim is not entering or attempting to enter the country unlawfully,” the judgment a added.

“Even though an asylum seeker has no valid passport or identity document, or prior permission to enter the United Kingdom, this does not make his arrival at the port a breach of an immigration law.”.

The UK prevents these people from working. Thats a uk government choice.
The real issue is that the uk govt is choosing not to process the applications any time soon. At the end of 2022, there were 166,261 cases in the backlog, including those awaiting an initial decision and 'pending further review'. appeals against initial decisions. You might think its deliberate.

The uk govt application refusal rate has been falling overall and was at 24% in 2022, its lowest point since 1990.

So there is a backlog mountain and 70% get to stay when processed.

Facts. Brexit taking back control of our borders …..🤣. …. We knew exactly what we were voting for …. 🤣 …..

Anyone that enters another country by illegal means, is an illegal immigrant.
The new bill will stop some leftie judge rule otherwise.

Think you missed the tongue in cheek nature of my post.

As a response to yours of course we should be using immigration to fill jobs particularly those with skill sets we are in need of.

On the flip side we have one of the best education systems in the world with some of the greatest and most respected seats of learning. Why do we have a shortage of doctors or dentists in the first place. Why is it so much easier to bring in dentists from Ecuador instead of training our own? This is the true failing of our various governments over the last forty years or so.

So Wales, army barracks and (pre-fab) cheap modular housing look like probable alternatives to dwindling hotel availability. Barracks type accommodation will be far cheaper than commandeering of hotels.

Apologies if I got the wrong end of the stick 👍

It’s (at least) partly pay.

The ongoing strikes are an indication of that.

Is all very well saying the country can’t afford the pay rises, but what can else can you do to fill the vacancies?

1000 people crossed the channel in the last week.

When the bill goes through the Home Secretary will have a legal duty to deport them. As things stand Rwanda has an annual capacity of 200.

I don’t think the bill matters a jot.

If immigration was used for this ( filling jobs that require years of learning ) I would be in favour.
But it isn’t.

So I’m not 😉

OK I've changed it.
