"A total of 95 staff at a hotel which will house asylum seekers have been told they will lose their jobs.
The Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, is set to house up to 241 asylum seekers.
The Home Office said the plans were necessary and it was listening to the views of the local community.
The Refugee Council has raised concerns about integrating asylum seekers in the community and whether they will get the support they need.
The 50 full-time and 45 part-time staff will stop working at the hotel on 10 July, the same day asylum seekers are due to move in.
Staff were informed during a meeting on Tuesday morning, after an email was sent via management at the hotel who then informed their colleagues.
The meeting, which lasted about half an hour, did not include any representatives on behalf of the hotel's owners, Sterling Woodrow.
The BBC was told some staff members who were not able to make the meeting joined the meeting via their phones, while others were called afterwards by colleagues.
Staff were said to be "shocked" but some also described relief "after weeks of waiting" to have questions answered about their futures."

and they have every right to be concerned, when you consider the 95 who have lost their jobs are highly likely to be local and to lose your job especially in the financial climate we're experiencing then there will be at the very least resentment at the cause of their unexpected situation.

Yeah things like this cause real genuine anger and worry. If you’re made redundant because your company is failing to make money or going under it’s tough but you can sort of understand it. To be effectively usurped by others for what is essentially political reasons you’ve got every right to kick off as far as I’m concerned.

Kicking off down there today, private security firm moved in to take down fences put up by protesters.
Police have been called, a stand off between the two going on
By many accounts the fences were put up by the owners of the two house`s next to the entrance of the hotel and they actually own the area where the entrance is and the police have been called in to arrest the members of the security firm for vandalising private property the plot thickens lol

It would be quite funny if the residents owned the land where the entrance is. Imagine taking over a hotel for a hostel and you can't get in.

QUOTE: "Drug dealer was operating from Home Office-provided accommodation Mahdi Mohammed was selling cocaine and cannabis from his room in the house of multiple occupation".
That's a new one for ya! Another arrest! A Kurd this time around. Apparently the drug wars and gangland shootings in Sweden have a strong Kurdish influence. So much of a problem that the army is being called in to assist.
Myself and others on here have been proven to be so 100% correct, astute and streetwise-grown-up. It's what was predicted, because it was the bleeding bloody obvious.

A bit like a certain hotel in Neath. No refugees there though, home grown talent

It makes you wonder, this was a top hotel for weddings in the Llanelli area. People spending big money....yet the place could have been a fire death trap.

Housing them in accommodation which will stir local communities up is all part of Cruella Braverman and the right wing of the governments plan. Hotels, holiday parks even the dambusters air base which had been ear marked as historical importance! Whatever your feelings towards migrants/refugees, our handling of them all is pathetic. The huge back log of applications is down to government failings, what better way to get people to forget this than by stirring the right up!

Anyone claiming asylum should be housed in secure, Home Office provided accommodation whilst their application is being processed. If that application is refused, they should be immediately repatriated.
Anyone arriving in the UK without documentation should be immediately repatriated.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

They protested to save the value of THEIR houses, whilst being justifiably concerend about the impact upon THEIR area(s) from a substancial influx involving the arrival of hundreds of undocumented unknowns.
And the undeniable truth is? South Wales is now currently suffering from repecussions, BECAUSE OF. "Epidemic" the judges grammar not mine!!!!
All those recent arrests hey!!!!
But the smearing will continue! Fighting to stop a catastrophic loss of property value.....Worrying about the chances of ever being able to sell on property....Worrying about peak-testosterone military age males wandering the locality.....Worrying about pressures on already creaking public services.....Worrying about the streets being flooded with drugs and criminality.....Worrying about the locality never ever being the same again, etc?
Makes concerened indivduals a "Nazi" acording to the bused in counter-protestors OUTSIDERS and far away lefty-loons... Community spirit and kith n' kinship won!

Outstanding Wingy
A profound thought/question regarding a circumstance of rational thinking and sound judgement..... If a young family with kids was to invest in a house purchase, would that family prefer to buy their family home right next to a migrant hostel or prefer to invest in their own/kids futures elsewhere?
We of common sense, critical thinking ability and grown-up common sense ALL know what the bleeding-bloody-obvious answer to that is!

Basic hypocrisy The refugee “ supporters” would not wipe their feet on them in reality but it makes them look good and humane They disgust me
Meanwhile ,tonight, some of our veterans who served this land are looking for shelter in a doorway and shuffling their feet .
Many of us now see the Police in a different light after watching there actions during this protest what an eye opener it was seeing them go against there own locals and licking up to the home office and the hotel owners and security, their chief of police proved himself to be an utter sleazebag and liar, will show them no respect what so ever in the future not that they will be the least bit bothered.
