Derby tonight as Vitor walks into the fire 25th Nov 2025 15:56
Swansea City kick off against Derby County this evening at 7:45pm under new management on the touchline and new coaches on the horizon. They have almost completed their discussions with the club which were held up yesterday for personal terms and work permits. 0

Swans 1 Rams 2 : Second half shocker as nothing changes, Vitor comments 25th Nov 2025 22:44
There seemed to be promise, then there was frustration, poor passing, bad defending and a failure to take control of goalscoring opportunities. Basically welcome to Swansea City football. 1

Will this be Matos first game?
I am hoping so if not please let our U18s boss take over for the game .
No more odea ball 🙏

Also Vipi starts Idah for the last 25 mins perhaps he can run his guts out as a match winning impact sub.
VIP should never be dropped in the kind of form he was in this season .
Adam cost a lot of money but Vipi will be worth double that if he can have another purple patch like at the start of the season.

Couldn’t I

Meanwhile, do have similar for ST holders who don’t go
They won’t be advertising that fact on here , to be sure

i know exactly what you , Rog, Ken and Ed are all about

Just being told it should be today, Matos won’t have any issues with a work permit as he had one at Liverpool. Could be that’s the hold up or more than likely they are filming today for the announcement. I think the club have done remarkably well to get this all levelled off and get him to be at Bristol City on Saturday. 👍

Josh Key has been a liability this season. Why didn't the club sign a RB in the summer? Was Sam Parker seen as his replacement?

We tried Sam Parker and it didn't work. Things got even worse when we tried Galbraith there. Maybe Josh Key isn't as bad as everyone thinks. Maybe the managers are right?

I want Key to be the player that we all want. His attacking intent is good, but the amount 9f gaps he leaves and his defending is questioning.

Maybe it requires a coach that knows what they are doing? I Mean Williams openly said he felt Key had similar traits as Bale and then encouraged hint to wonder into midfield and left gaps and kept losing the ball.

I think we desperately need to replace him and upgrade that position.

Iirc parker has only played in 2 cup games this season, games we won and drew, so how can you say playing him didnt work?

Iirc he has looked good when I have seen him play, hes definitely better defensively than key so imo i think he deserves a chance.

Perhaps matos will give him than chance.

What I think we'll see under Matos is a re-appraisal of players strengths and weaknesses.

With that, an identity to perform differently, that might mean JK is reinvented and becomes that player of promise...

It's a clean slate and we may lose some but others excel

For me he's got so much potential and if a new manager and coaches can get that out of him he could be a very important player for us over the next 18 months

Clean slate

One can only hope we've bagged ourselves a good un and yes as far as the Manager is concerned it should be a clean slate but lets hope the players buy into his philosophy and methods quickly or its going to be a very disappointing season .

As said by others, patience is the key. I’d also add in that expectations need to be managed. This season, unless it’s a freak one will once again be a (re)building one if players are going to have to learn to play differently to adapt to Matos’ style. I can live with that so long as we keep our heads above the waterline.

Whatever the result tonight I'm actually looking forward to it and feeling upbeat for the first time in what seems like a long time but in reality is only a few months since the positivity of August. I'd started to dread matchdays and being constantly frustrated with our blunt boreball approach that all 4 previous managers, bar the odd game, seemed to default to.
It's hopefully the dawn of a new era. Baby steps of course and expectations managed etc..but the promise of attacking football under Matos is something we've been starved of for far too long...

I’ve been down to the beach with the dog and wife
It’s glorious
Welsh hills look stunning
Tonight is a new era
Hell, Vit is the most gorgeous coach we’ve had

Most important thing is to get the confidence back in these players and the feel good factor back around the fan base. Tonight might be too soon as they’ve only had a day or two but I hope he’s made it clear that every shirt is up for grabs and we see a real blood and thunder effort. Some players have become far too comfortable and complacent.

Don't get many hills on a beach! They tend to be at sea level.
