But I’m coming round to thinking he deserves to be starting. His decision making is much better than it was earlier in the season. He’s far less erratic without losing his intensity or the good kind of unpredictably that opens up gaps

Like Burgess nearly getting the Swans to concede a goal in the opening seconds last night when you blamed Vigouroux, it was clearly nothing to do with him. Did you watch the game ?

Up until not so long ago I felt he was light weight, slow in thought and lost possession far to easily although he showed flashes of what he could do. The last couple of games he seems to have grown into the league and is very much improved. I would probably start with Yalcouye at home and Widell away who I feel is better at tracking back.

His spatial awareness is very good and more often than not can pick off a decisive pass. I agree he's a great player to have coming off the bench but just as good as one who should be starting.

Don't disagree but maybe he's not starting but then again the manager's shown he's not afraid to shake it up with changes earlyish in the game.

One can never be sure of anyone 100% but Matos looks like he’s learning He still inexperienced and many saw him as a gamble And he was

I think the best players we have won't always make the best team on any specific day. Matos has to pick a team to try and beat whatever opposition we have next, depending on how the other team set up, their strengths and weaknesses. The best 11 will not necessarily start, but they will be the best 11 to win the match in Matos opinion. [Post edited 26 Feb 12:37]

With 5 subs, it's about more than 11 these days. I enjoyed the Watford away game when we brought on Yalcoure, Nunes and Galbraith after a tiring and attritional hour or so. When you are tired the last thing you need from the opposition is clever players who don't give you a kick.

Exactly its a squad game these days the better the options on the bench the more chance you have of winning a match, particularly in a thee game week.

This stung us under Williams and Sheehan (although we have more depth this season). Playing our best eleven and dominating for 60/70 minutes, then losing points when the subs come on. Matos uses the same pool of players but seems happier to rotate who starts and who comes on. Also not afraid to make big early changes when it’s not working, like Tuesday

If he had hit it first time or better still lifted it over the keeper he would have scored . He took a touch and the opportunity was gone. It's typical of the championship you just don't get the time - a moment's hesitation and all is lost . He is learning though and getting to grips with this league. I 've stated before that I would play him up top near to Vip His one touch passing and awareness /link up play would play havoc with most defences . Also his ball retention is good and I think he would gain a lot of dangerous free kicks around the box and also penalties given time. Imagine Ipswich going down to 10 men cos someones lunged in at Yalcoue - straight red we would be in dreamland . He's also an unknown quantity in this league as he hasn't played much and therefore defenders won't know quite what to expect. Ipswich 's defence is not brilliant they can be got at . They have Kipre a big unit but not agile this is where we can use Yalcoue to great effect in my opinion. I would keep Yalcoue up top when defending corners too , as an outlet ball because his control and retention is so good he would be working like a pressure release valve. I would start him and when he tires second half bring Widdel on to keep the foot on the neck so to speak. Go at them early doors get a goal or two and keep up the press with fresh legs off the bench.
