Good news for jobs in Wales. I have no time for silly parochialism.. It is one third on this way to Swansea. [Post edited 8 Apr 21:42]

Currently he's not standing, but it looks as if Eluned Morgan may lose her seat so it may change, I think nominations close today.

| Cardiff Airport competition case. on 17:26 - Apr 9 by Dr_Winston | The approx 1m people in North and Mid Wales are better served by Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool airports. Driving times to Birmingham and Liverpool from Aberystwyth (for example) are almost identical to the time for Cardiff. If Cardiff wants an airport Cardiff should pay for it itself. Why should Welsh taxpayers North of Newtown fork out to subsidise a loss making venture that they'll almost never use? It's not their airport. It never will be. |
I suppose for the same reason you pay towards the Menai bridge. Or HS2.

HS2 is a complete waste of time too. Money would have been better spent reopening branch lines. I've used the Menai Bridge more often than I've used Cardiff Airport.

Or charity fundraising? Or citizenship classes? These are the things that were and are being taught. The bit that gets twisted is because schools will have values around respect, tolerance etc. it’s gets picked up by bad actors as schools forcing ideology on kids. In reality it’s more schools trying to teach children to be nice. Unfortunately in only takes one daft teacher criticise Farage or Trump for the Mail and GB news to fire up the hate machine. No excusing the daft teacher for a minute but the reaction is always disproportionate. I do find it interesting that what they want to do to the curriculum is very Conservative 2015. Or what I’d expect and hopeful they’d learn the bits that didn’t work and the things that worked really well. |
I recall some work on demographics in that we were presented with sets of figures and asked to present our thoughts, one classmate did a good job on the numbers and I remember him calling out three big risks for the UK as the post war bulge moved forward; health, pensions and work, we didn't get into the politics. I recall some work on agriculture and the need to manage our food supply and stuff on the Tudors and Stewarts which was good fun as the teacher was quite creative and it felt like Horrible Histories, nothing gets the attention like people throwing buckets of shit into the street. So all quite factual and a light touch with respect to politics, which seems right when you are young and learning; to understand the whats before you start thinking about the how's and the whys.

| Cardiff Airport competition case. on 14:38 - Apr 9 by Whiterockin | I imagine maintenance and cargo jobs will be secure, the review may find this is an area to develop to encourage profitability, as with the training school all these are employers. 4,000 job losses is just scaremongering and would never be the case, this is the sort of thing a review will analyse because many would stay and some would be transferable to Bristol (where many travel from to work at Cardiff). It may just find that currently management are concentrating in the wrong areas. Concentrating on budget airlines may be more profitable that tour operators, this has proved the case for some airports. Cardiff has a pilot school, possibly developing that would benifit both the airport and Cardiff/Swansea Universities. Only good can come out of a review. Why are you paranoid about it failing unless you already think there is no long term future for the airport, because that could well be the case if we continually have to subsidise it. |
Funny on how he's concerned about 4000 jobs at Cardiff but didn't give a stuff about the 1000's of jobs lost at Tata in the Neath/Port Talbot area, double standards again! Nothing changes with the mentality of this bloke. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I see Drakeford has already thrown his hat into the ring to be first minister again. According to him it will be a coalition and the Senedd will need a first minister with experience. Will they never learn or understand the reasons why they are being thrown out, arrogance in the extreme. It doesn't say much for what he thinks of Eluned Morgan. [Post edited 9 Apr 14:57]

Where has Drakeford said he wants to be first minister again? He’s not a candidate in any of the seats and can’t be the FM. I think you’ve completely misinterpreted things, the point he’s making is should there be coalition then someone like Eluned Morgan should be the FM because of her previous experience as a politician in the Senedd and EU. As opposed to AN Other who’ll have very little experience.

I was derided for saying " I have no time for silly parochialism". Here is an example of this. The airport is located between Cardiff and Swansea about 2/3 and 1/3. Most Welsh people live in the south.

Tara Steel needed Billions not millions . Meaningfully helping them would bankrupt Wales. We do not have that sort of money. The air quality in NPT has improved markedly since closure. The children in particular will have better health. Drakeford had been vilified by the English press who gave the seriously incompetent contemporary of his Boris and easy ride. A posh boy Public school raffish spiv or a clarinet playing Welsh speaking solid administrator. No contest. It comes as no surprise you b lame Drakeford for Tata shrinkage. It was never in doubt for at least 15 years. CWL actually Barry has far greater prospects and is Welsh owned. If we vote for English men to come in and shut it down we may as well all become the new Cumbria. [Post edited 10 Apr 14:58]

CWL is in Barry not Cardiff.it is about 25. -30; mond for Cardiff and 45 -50 mins from Swansea . It served both big Welsh urban areas as you cannot have one each. It is a little too close to Cardiff and you think like an Urban football fan not serious Citizen wanting the vast for Wales. Newtown people go to Birmingham. Wales as a politician entity needs it's own international airport. England needs a monarchy we need our own iconic institutions. Wales a state with it's own language religion Parliament sports teams museums and airport. London has it's iconic cable car to nowhere. £75m as a tourist feature no one uses .

It comes as no surprise that yet again you are showing yourself up as a frigging idiot. The fact you support that idiot Drakeford comes as no surprise either. "CWL actually Barry has far greater prospects and is Welsh owned. If we vote for English men to come in and shut it down we may as well all become the new Cumbria." I'd be very happy with that, perhaps it'll be run properly then and not having to run to the that pit that is the Senedd for yet another multimillion pound hand out, money that comes from the hard working taxpayer, when there are many many services desperate for that money after many many years of underfunding because your useless mate wasted it on CWL.

Port Talbot steel works was hoovering up billions of taxpayer cash for decades especially in the late1980 and 90s. It has no growth potential and is a massive polluter the filth heading in the direction of our children's lungs for decades. The new plan has been in the pipeline for years . You were the last to be told. The local coal suppliers ended and do did the works within a few months. A bit of a coincidence of course?. Call me what you like. Let's hope the people of Port Talbot do not get "Brexited" again and see new EU sanctions on top of Trumps tarriffs. The Senedd laid on at least 3000 new jobs in Bridgend with Ineos but the Welsh torpedoed their own jobs over English sovereignty issues. Self harm never works. [Post edited 10 Apr 19:28]

Just one point of many of yours which should be dismissed as fanatsy "The Senedd laid on at least 3000 new jobs in Bridgend with Ineos but the Welsh torpedoed their own jobs over English sovereignty issues" These words from someone who knows or someone who makes wild guesses "Mr Crotty ( Group Director of Ineos ) said: "It's a very simple business decision. We were looking to build in Wales, we're very open and public about that. "In the meantime we had an approach from Mercedes... who had a factory, a ready-made factory, on the Franco-German border, available to us. "They were going to use it to build a 4x4. They changed their business position and therefore we had a very simple business decision - do we want to take the risk of building our own factory or do we want to take one that Mercedes have already built and is ready to go? "So that's the driver... someone is presenting you with a state-of-the-art new factory, ready-built versus the risk of building your own."
