Key's been pretty solid when called upon for most of the second half of the season IMO. Whatever demons were haunting him at the start appear to have passed.
We know he's a capable player because we've seen plenty of it from him before. It's a shame that not everyone appreciates that. I'd certainly have no problem with him and Parker competing for the starting slot next season. RB has gone from a problem position to one where we're actually quite well stocked when you consider that Lissah can play there as well. [Post edited 3 May 10:14]

Ha! was in the middle of editing to include Lissah when you replied. Yeah. I think CB is the first port of call for him but utility is handy to have.
Was having a similar discussion with my mate at the game yesterday about what a blessing fo coaches Alan Tate must have been on our way up with smaller sub allocations. Having him on the bench covered four positions, five if you're prepared to put him in goal. | |

He has his weaknesses and sometimes your supposed strength can be leave you exposed. You cannot leave wingers play the game they want to, Key has pace to burn but if you don't get your marking right then no amount of pace will make up for bad marking. He is a full back first and foremost and must get that part of his game right but getting that right has to work within the framework of a team, if something isn't right it has to be changed and we have to adapt to different situations within a game.
Slipping back into bad habits learnt hasn't helped Key he is a player with good attributes most of which we saw yesterday.
How poor were Chalton they seemed to be a bit kick and rush maybe because how we made them play, more than happy to have the deserved win also towards the end of the game nice to see us keepibg the ball deep in the opposition half not allowing them to build any dangerous play in our half after our second and third goals. | | | |

I think our squad was very light in numbers in the summer and we needed loans to pad it out relatively cheaply. Personally I don't think the loans have delivered, skilful yes but too lightweight and gave the ball away cheaply. Our squad is stronger now in my opinion particularly with the likes of Lissah retuning and players like Parker and hopefully Woodward starting to make a breakthrough. It will depend now on who leaves and the quality of the replacements. Hopefully we will continue to develop our own long term and use less loans unless they are real quality. | | | |

I think in the case of Fisher, your views were valid when he played under Martin. He was very poor for this level of football.
That said, he played in cup games this season / last and performed very well I thought.
Keeping us as much confidence as it is ability. He clearly has the latter because you can’t blag yourself into a professional contract without having shown it but his confidence was at an all time low in his first season here.
I’d keep him. He had little to do yesterday and it was a really good game for Matis to give him a run out. | |
