Glorified friendly? Not when thereās a third place, a bronze medal pride and FIFA rankings involved.
You can say if was football from the old days. Players expressing themselves with the shackles off. Not being over coached by coaches trying to out do each other, instead leaving players get on with it albeit with a game plan which in this case was to attack and quickly in numbers.

In the semi final the choice was twist or stick with what they had, they stuck it wasn't enough. How many times have we not gone on to get that second goal and I am not talking about kamikaze tactics of Martin and Williams but at time when a team is blitzing you you have to go on the offensive with intent. Tuchel took all his ammunition off the pitch in the semi, against France he kept pace on the pitch.
French game a total one off set of circumstances entertaining second half, missed first half, ELO tribute down the Grrand, France could have racked up a number of goals but they were under pressure to get back into the gam but didn't take their chances.
Game reminded me of the Leeds game a few years back in which Spences poor defending opened up opportunities for us or was it his good attacking play undid us?
Maybe the game exposes Tuchel"s Semi final mistakes all the more.

Boundy Mbappe looked uninterested in the first half, but came out for 2nd half a different player and leading the French revival, he was his usual self in that 2nd half, the difference between last nights game was massively different from their capitulation against the Argies in that they kept playing and not sitting back like a minnow in a cuptie trying to hold on to a lead against a bigger team. | | | |

France were awful in that first half they didn't turn up until after half time, 2nd half was a great half, 1st half England had it all their own way, because of France's seeming attitude to the game.
