I really cannot see how any English footballer being made a millionaire a month can have the required mentality as we see in other sports. |

Not really 'poor,' possibly absolutely 'terrible' would be a better description.
England have indeed gone a long way in recent comps but I'm into my sixth decade and England have not won anything in the time period of my memory span.
Look at the list of World cup winners and finalists and look at a list of the Euros winners and finalists to see how England compare, even with them going further in recent comps its still greatly underachieving look at their record compared to others over the decades even more so taking resources into consideration.
When looking at people's comments after England got knocked out the other day a lot of the disappointment came from older supporters, older journalists, older ex players and managers that is because like me they have seen them fail for decades and decades, they should have a better return than just one World cup final (on home soil) and 2 Euros (the last 2, including 1 on home soil).
So although they have had an uptick in recent tournaments overall even including those recent tournaments England 's overall results over the history of both the World, Euro's and now Nations League is nowhere near 'par' it is awful for country of England's size and resources in football. | |
