Farage is a weird character.

Few people have been as impactful on British political life without having any actual power in history. Yet despite that he comes across as a lazy, insecure chancer quite happy to turn a quick buck without asking too hard about where it's coming from.

Maybe his real talent lies in recognising how hopeless and similarly compromised his opponents mostly are and ploughing on regardless. Certainly he's been more than a match for anything Labour have thrown at him since 2024. I'd say both Badenoch and Lowe have a lot more about them but are starting from much further back.

Not sure how this by-election stunt will go for him though. The refusal of anyone other than Count Binface to consider seriously contesting the election leaves him wide open to looking stupid and might create the first serious chink in his armour. There's only one place for the "anti Farage" vote to go, and people may well consider giving the Bin a chance just to see what happens.

It would certainly throw the cat amongst the Reform Cult of Personality pigeons.

The guy who plays Binface is as "Led By Donkeys" as they come. A career establishment hack with all the right political beliefs, but it would be tremendously entertaining if Farage calls this election to solidify his position and then loses it.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I'm pretty certain Farage V Binface is the only thing Reform didn't plan for.

Farage can't come out of this well. He's going to look like an idiot at or as a best case scenario end up in exactly the same place he was yesterday morning.

There's a huge opportunity for the Tory's here, this could be the end of Reform. Let Restore take the Right. Badenoch shift a bit to the centre and one nation conservatism and they could be back.

Badenoch is the future, if she wants it to be, can see her getting disillusioned though with the current state of the political landscape in this Country.
To many idiotic career politician's trying to make it all about them, but her and Darren Miller here in Wales are the only two that I've currently got faith in.

Tend to agree, but if it wasn't for Reform and the 20mph I think Labour would still be running Wales. Remember "voting Plaid is the only way to stop Reform".

Badenoch impressed me when she was a Minister in the last Government, and after a rocky start where she appeared to be pulling her punches a bit has grown into an impressive leader of the opposition.

Her biggest problem is that it's going to take a Reform implosion or a bit of a miracle for people to start trusting the Tories again, and there's a very real chance that after the next election she won't be the leader of the opposition any more and will be sidelined and less visible.

I think she needs to be even more ruthless with her party. Drive out the wets and "One Nation" types. Offer a genuine, competent alternative to Reform emphasising their failed Tory Lib nature. They won't win the next election, but remaining the second biggest party would be something to build from. They need to stay the course.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It would be hilarious but he got nearly half the vote last time with all the parties standing. Add in the Tory vote and they together got nearly three quarters of the vote. I can’t imagine anywhere near enough reform nutters or traditional conservatives would be willing to vote for a bin. Not in that constituency anyway.

Most if not all of the disillusioned labour voters jumped in bed with Plaid, time will tell how that turns out, but its not looking good, where's that 340 million they were given to support ALN gone, childcare promise hasn't even been discussed or the costs is the latest, that dreadful woman Sioned Williams got a little angry when she was asked about it.

Plaid Cymru have waited a whole century to have power in Wales and one of their first acts was to walk out like petulant children when faced with scrutiny from the opposition.

Says it all about them really.

Yes but you called Starmer the world's biggest loser and completely incompetent and everything he does turns to poo when evidently he is not the biggest loser or completely incompetent and everything he does doesn't actually turn to poo. He has been judged by, what i will say is the majority as being poor as being PM. That is a massive shame as he had the chance to bring in sweeping changes which the country needs and he bottled it because of the media and public pressure. I supported him because he is an intelligent and thoughtful man but he was not good at being PM.
If you had said he was a rubbish PM I would have just raised my eyebrows

It's a low bar, very low. But Starmer has been the least shit PM since Gordon Brown.

Cameron had promise but took austerity too far and was a massive coward, that's where the mess the country is in starts, Johnson was Johnson I can't blame him only the people who elected him, Truss put the nails in the coffin which meant Sunak had no chance.

Who will follow Andy Burnham? That's the problem.

Oops I forgot Theresa May, wrong time for her. She might have been ok otherwise.

Several polls suggesting that Binface is leading.

This might actually spell the end of Farage as anything more than a political bystander. Hard to imagine him fighting his way back from losing to a "comedy" candidate.

And it'll have been entirely self inflicted.

I’ve seen no evidence that he is particularly intelligent or remotely thoughtful. He certainly had no political intelligence. The vacant look on his face when answering any difficult questions and the number of times he says ‘erm’ whilst frantically searching through his notes no doubt supplied by someone else suggests he’s not particularly quick of thought.

I have no doubt he was hard working and diligent and was probably committed to doing a good job he just didn’t have any of the attributes needed to do it.

Well considering everyone who hates Farage as well as the supporters of the other party's supporters who would have made a point of going to vote for Binface, Farage won easily and by a landslide

JL is a good friend of mine, but l disagree with him on this and agree with you.

It says it all when Starmer said after is long awaited resignation, that his journey in politics was over, that says it all about the bloke, he was trying to use being PM to elevate him to better things and he fell on his face on that one, clown of a PM and good riddance
