But you've never made that point before but when others have (myself for example) you dismiss it. "Portsmouth MP Amanda Martin has recently called out Nigel Farage for not “declaring his earnings and gifts”. Amanda received £5,000 from Abdul Sattar Shere-Mohammod (convicted of actual bodily harm in 2022 and expelled from Labour) for her 2024 Portsmouth North election campaign, matching the post’s core claim of a donation from a convicted criminal same as Nigel but where is the media and left now ? She declared the donation in the parliamentary register and was in the process of returning it along with other affected Labour MPs after the story broke in August 2025. And who is Abdul stood with Andy Burnham… As they say the truth will emerge soon."

It's different IMO. It was a campaign donation, not a personal one. She declared it. When the source came to light it was returned. Farage can'r point to any of these.

It's just that GB News (in particular, becasue they are a Reform mouthpiece, there are others including on the left) misrepresent the content. The content is all that matters. No MP's or candidates should receive any gifts. None. Civil Servants can't. But what Farage / Reform / Tice have received are off the scale and policy changes often follow. It's corruption.

Use of an apartment wouldn't be dodgy at all. Football tickets - hospitality. Nothing to see here

Gifted an apartment is a stretch Keith..... but I hope Starmer did declare it otherwise that would be dishonest according to the rules.

Care to comment about Josh Simmonds , the Labour MP who stood down so Burnham could stand in his place as an MP giving up his just under 90k salary , how honourable of him you may think until you read that he’s now being appointed by Burnham onto his staff and doubling his pay . Please spare us the faux outrage .

As I have said before, every politician is on the take if the opportunity arises no matter how high or minor. I wonder if there are any low level local politicians who will put their head above the parapet and own up to enjoying hospitable weekends when the Swans played at Wembley and other occasions.

I was really curious about what would happen to that guy. Felt bad that he had to give up such an important and coveted role for someone else. There is your answer. It does stink

Well and MP isn't a full time job and the £90k comes with a load of add ons and second incomes, so doubling his salary would probably be fair. But it does very much depend on what he is now doing for Burnham, if he's qualified to do it and who is paying him. He was always going to get something else. Cronysim is rife in politics but it shouldn't be. The entire scenario is out of order, Burnham should have been able to stand in Gorton and Denton. This is very different to what could be perceived as bribery though.

Completely different situation. I’m not keen on the way burnham has got in but that’s a completely different topic. Back to the topic, I gave my opinion that the example you gave isn’t comparable. I gave three reasons. What are your reasons that they’re the same?

If you think all politicans are beyond reproach then you must have been living in a cave for the past ? years. They’re all at it , just look at Labours front bench when they first got into power and who’s in it now then ask yourself why so many new faces and you can include Starmer and by the way have you ever wondered how a former care worker from a working class background now has an estimated 4 million in the bank , I’m referring to the ginger growler Angela Raynor. |

I'd say they are both examples of self serving politicians manipulating the electoral process.

In very different ways. Like saying a first time shoplifter and Harold Shipman are both criminals. Technically true but not helpful. [Post edited 8 Jul 18:17]

Comparing politicians feathering their nest to a serial killer is a bit extreme.

Yes one is avoiding scrutiny and the other has decided he wants to run the country!

No he wouldn’t because Starmer is the world’s biggest loser and completely politically incompetent. Everything he does turns to poo.

And that's why he's concentrating on calling Farage all things, not saying he's wrong, but that's all he's got going for him, I bet that he's that delighted that he's dancing around his lounge in his Y fronts the dozy twange.

Just a demonstration, all be it a flippant one. Starmer declaring £100k in personal donations over 7 years compared to Farage not declaring one for 50 times that is pretty far apart too.
| Farage resigns as MP for Clacton on 20:49 - Jul 8 with 851 views | Dr_Winston | Farage is a weird character. Few people have been as impactful on British political life without having any actual power in history. Yet despite that he comes across as a lazy, insecure chancer quite happy to turn a quick buck without asking too hard about where it's coming from. Maybe his real talent lies in recognising how hopeless and similarly compromised his opponents mostly are and ploughing on regardless. Certainly he's been more than a match for anything Labour have thrown at him since 2024. I'd say both Badenoch and Lowe have a lot more about them but are starting from much further back. Not sure how this by-election stunt will go for him though. The refusal of anyone other than Count Binface to consider seriously contesting the election leaves him wide open to looking stupid and might create the first serious chink in his armour. There's only one place for the "anti Farage" vote to go, and people may well consider giving the Bin a chance just to see what happens. [Post edited 8 Jul 20:53]
