With out doubt one of the biggest issues is national debt. It is currently hitting £3 Trillion. (A Trillion is a thousand billion.) £3,000,000,000,000. For each citizen the debt is £43,000 and growing.
The debt really kicked on after the £500 billion bankers bail out of 2009 when it was less than £1 Trillion.
The second spike was the Covid related borrowing for furlough and infrastructure etc 2020 -2021.
I do not know what Burnham's priorities are but if it is not reducing the deficit and then debt then he is just fiddling on the roof while the house burns beneath him.
When Starmer tried to trim the budget his Chancellor was seen sobbing n the House of Commons after folding to MP pressure. He has no election for 3 years so should take unpopular decisions and cut the deficit first and then the debt.
Reform and Plaid in the Senedd is concentrating on Gender definition. If Wales went independent our share of the debt would be £150 billion. (5% of the total debt)
UK interest payment of this debt annually is £110 billion. (including my premium bond winnings)

Why can’t he have a holiday? Considering he’s been in charge for about 10 minutes then I’d say hes got a pretty good claim to it not being his fault.
Nice to know he can afford one , I see the price of fuel is now higher than it was at the start of the Irans' spat with the US. No wonder the campsites around and about are well below normal capacity.

If you talk to them its down to congestion and not helped by the speed limits. Getting from England to West Wales is horrendous Friday to Monday and the same going back. Tourists are just going elsewhere.

If you do end up with East Midlands, keep an eye on the M42 as there are speed limits and closures around the NEC due to ongoing HS2 work. So extra time will be needed

I travel most weekends either from or to w Wales and the roads although busy are not that bad even on a Friday /Saturday and I've noticed quite a few ads for canp sites and caravan sites with vacancies ,something I maynot have noticed before but its definately quieter .Regarding the debt well if its bad now (which it is) its only going to get much worth if a countries revenue is continually less than its outgoings then we are heading for a collapse .

The UK national debt is growing by about GBP4186 per second. You might say that each second we load on the cost of one asylum hotel place for a month. All on tick. Certainly is a cause for concern.

I would have thought having a break while parliament is in recess makes sense. There's only a five week gap up till 1st September. He won't have much chance of a break after that.

Everything is cheaper up north. They need to vacate the House of commons and relocate to the North row renovations. Get in with it and cut the costs
What would you suggest we do with the London HoC etc . You must realise that the cost of living atm maybe cheaper uppp north atm but that will change should they take up your suggestion .

The restoration of the house of Westminster was reported to take a minimum of 20 years with some claims it could be much longer. This could be because the silver spooned ones decline to move out on mass simultaneously to reduce costs.
They need to be reminded they are servants of the nation. Most in the House of Lords know when they leave they will never be coming back. This would be frightfully galling for them.

Just imagine another three years of the prospect of the 'party of the economically illiterate' then going on to win a second consecutive term of government after that.
The surreal side of things would be if the party of reckless abandonment and economic sabotage was to win the next election for it to be inevitably handed the very poisoned chalice/cocktail and economic catastrophe that it was responsible for!
