Astute class submarines take 10 days to get to the Falklands. They can stay under water for 25 years if they have enough food for the crew. They can make their own water supply.
IMO this wont be a boots on the ground operation if things go tits up. What a good time for the Labour government to copy what the Conservative government did in 1982 when they were miles behind in the polls to get patriotic votes but also this time the naval and airforce superiority is much better. |  |

For all we know there's a sub down there already and with satellites monitoring their activity maybe (I wouldn't bey on it mind) we are more prepared than Thatcher was, accepting that many think Thatcher allegedly knew what was happening but wanted a war to boost her popularity.
If the Argentine did invade I think they'd pay a heavy price before they got close to shore. The Sky sabre missile systems would take planes out, as well as the Air force presence which would harass the ships and we have some old school 105mm artillery down there too.
They wouldn't simply walk ashore unchallenged.
What irritates me is allowing an Israeli company in. We should be shunning them. I didn't disagree with the original response to the October attack but they have gone waaaay too far. | | | |

It was Lammy and Starmer’s job to sign off on the legal paperwork. I say this as a lot of people seem to automatically blame the Labour government when they were both as complicit - maybe the Conservatives more so because they started it.

Could have and should have prevented the deal being signed off in my opinion
given that the people that live there were totally opposed to thier
home singed over to Mauritius (happy to be corrected if wrong) as
the Chinese have significant control and influence over these tiny countries
which is a potential security risk and the dismissive attitude of Lammy and
starmer towards our global security terrified me and still does. Then new Chinese
embassy granted planning almost in the grounds of Thames house again
the Chinese benefit. They will be after Diego Garcia next. | | | |
