The worrying thing is the only plan to improve the financial situation is cut a region. They will not accept that the threat of this is compounding the financial position, supporters are walking away from the WRU. They have already refinanced £55M in debt now this pushes the debt over £70M. HSBC and Goldman Sachs must have security against this debt and the only real asset is the stadium. If they are projecting an £18M loss again in the next financial year you can be sure it will be more not less, so the debt will rise to around £90M in 12 months time. This is surely the tipping point, they all have to go.
| WRU £18M loss for the latest financial year on 16:10 - Oct 23 with 500 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Ai The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) is a not-for-profit private company limited by guarantee, meaning it is not owned by a single individual or private corporation. This is another example of a poorly run organisation where no one can profit.. A blatant and obvious parallel of this is the Swansea city Supporter Trust. In 2015-2016 they were worth £21m but not one of the board or one of the members want to see up and cash in. The benefit to the club would have been enormous. There was no interest in selling because there was no PROFIT. WRU should sell up and have a rights issue and sell the body to rugby fans and foreign n investor and develop a drive for profit and shareholder dividends. Ospreys fans my theen as owners of the WRU become engaged . The THEM are to blame become WE are to blame and that demands action. I recall Swansea city the fans took action as the SU ituation had become dire . I take my gat off to them but they needed to finish the job in 2016 instead of the nonsense court case. Silverstein saved their but is my reading of the situation.. | |

Its pathetic that you have brought your supporters trust vendetta onto this WRU thread, it clearly shows why people have the opinion of you that they do.

I explained for business management reasons why WRU is under forming and I kindly for information for the Swansea faithful gave another local example.. No one at the SCST nor WRU makes any profit or collects any dividends. Sell up the WRU to a business able to profit. How much are they c getting for Fury Joshua. It should be a percentage deal Without them.the fight goes to Saudi. I do not worry about your quip at the end. My POTY 2023 is written in the archives. If they let me stand again I will again come out on the top of the pile from the silent readership who do not want to fell the wrath of the old Planet swans guardv [Post edited 23 Oct 16:32]

| WRU £18M loss for the latest financial year on 16:38 - Oct 23 with 434 views | JJBomber | So revenue has increased by £10million, while losses have increased by £10.8million. So expenditure must have risen by £20.8million. Where has all this expenditure gone? That is what we really need to know. Endless job creation schemes. My mate's daughter-in-law has got one at a nice 6-figure salary. It's working with the women's rugby, so nobody is allowed to question it. The next part is reducing a region, and so reducing our TV money by 25%. It will reduce the Welsh derbies from 12 to 6, so it's losing the bigger crowds of the season. Will Scarlets v Cheetahs on Boxing Day draw in the same crowd as Scarlets v Ospreys? Not a chance. Will S4C even be interested? European TV money will also be cut by 25%. It's all great news for the Swans, as more and more rugby fans turn their back on the game. Our seniors have had 2 games cancelled this season already, out of 5. The youth are the same. The WRU (Worst Run Union) are killing the game. | | | |

Its an excellent point about S4C. The viewing figures are higher for the West regions than the East quite possibly because of the Welsh language.

The WRU spends about £30M on Admin, Marketing & Support Costs which is three times higher than the Irish RU. This is essentially costs of running the WRU which seem excessive compared to Ireland. The mounting debt is now eating into income and is increasing each year and now costing over £3M a year to service.

| WRU £18M loss for the latest financial year on 18:24 - Oct 23 with 322 views | builthjack | The WRU give £6.4 million to each region. £25.6 million total. If/when they cut it to three regions, they say they will give £7.8 million to each region. £23.4 million total. So they will, save £2.2 million. Hardly a fortune. Mad. | |
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Welsh rugby is a small world and everybody knows everybody, so I wonder tif the Central District were tipped off about something. They m not an accountant, but I’ve got a pretty good idea as to how the world goes round and it’s staggering how much the WRU is spending and I’d like to know what.

Abi Tierney's base salary £379,000 pa plus add ons and expenses not forgetting 9% pension contributions paid by the WRU , in total north of half a million a year. In any other business they would be toast.

I would imagine the TV revenue and sponsorship value will reduce by more than that with one Welsh region less. Cardiff Blues [WRU owned] lost £1.5M thats half the saving, drop them problem solved. The WRU are not looking to solve a problem just milk the diminishing money machine.

That's an absolutely ridiculous amount of money, what is she bringing to the party for that amount of wages, the WRU are absolutely clueless and still run by amateurs at its core to just think that they can chuck money at people and they'll be able to sort out all the problems [Post edited 23 Oct 21:45]

There are ex Welsh rugby players with the business nous to run the WRU of that I've no doubt, may even be those out there who never played for Wales, but who have the nous to see what's needed, problem Welsh rugby has is that its run in the background by the village amateur clubs that needs to change and change now, the game is a Professional game, but I'm not convinced that, that has been fully implemented in the hierarchy of the WRU. Throwing money at it by employing people who haven't the knowledge and don't care about the parochialism that exists in Wales will never improve the game in Wales, Ospreys and Scarlets will never merge, you still got Neath and Swansea supporters who have never and never will fully get behind the Ospreys, you see it on this website that St Helens is all about Swansea's all whites. Ospreys were formed mainly through Neath who were the power house of Rugby in the area and Wales for the most part they swept all before them for years before the Ospreys formed, Im a Swansea born lad [in Fairwood hospital], but I got married at 22 and still in Neath now 43 yrs later, but I started following Neath due to a few of the Wife's brothers and a few friends that I made here, I still follow neath on paper and always watch the Ospreys on the tele, usually on the edge of my seat
