5-0 ! Swans thrashed as questions will be asked for sure 24th Oct 2026 17:59
It’s got such a great traffic system, you know. The Westway, that is. Or at least it did have. Under the glow of those yellow lights, there was once something rather impressive about the journey into west London. Today, however, there was driving rain and precious little to suggest Swansea City were a competent football team at any Championship level. 9

Hindsight is wonderful, but what did you think when you saw the starting 11. The conditions were made for Fulton and Eom. I had no qualms with the defence selection but they had no protection. As for Just I can't understand why he is currently selected. That's two matches in a row we can say on another day, but I'm putting the blame fully on Matos. That starting 11 is not the best we have, no excuse of two games in a week, just poor selection and tactics.

Matos picks the team from what he sees in the squad throughout the weeks efforts in training for me and experienced defender like Seelt should have started to counteract the quality that Kone brings QPR and Stewart who has seen it all, it never hurts to freshen the starting 11 up a tad and yes Fulton probably should have started.
Matos and the team has done very well this season and today was truly disappointing, but the team needs tweaking in preparation for some games especially away from home and that's where the experienced players in the squad comes in against the hostile atmospheres at places like Loftus road where the crowd is on top of you etc, I know we won at Millwall and that was a feat in itself and we probably got away with that one, when you look back.

In a team sport too many of the individuals do not perform you are in trouble. That happened today.

There was nothing wrong with the team selection or tactics but we were poor in key moments both in attack and especially in defence today. That was hard to take as they have been incredibly good all season wifh only eight goals conceded.

Meanwhile you are completely clueless in every respect on the subject. You seem to enjoy it when we lose.

You have been at it for twenty yrs
I explain myself to nobody least of all to the like of you
However , I did not enjoy us getting beat 5-0
It upset me
It angered me
It puzzled me
I don’t enjoy defeats
It hurts
Clearly , you are and you cope by attacking usernames you hate
And it’s understandable
Clueless means your intellect is wanting

You can't go so open against teams regardless of their position in the league, one half of a game we look terrible, other half we look majestic, when and where to attack, when and where to defend Ipswich and Coventry last season, Southampton and QPR this season.
How many of us have asked for changes to personel and style of play? in all the games mentioned we tried that early press leaving gaps and have conceded early goals the same happened against West Ham but we were a little more cautious and didn't open up our defence until a little later in the game.

We all asked for or at least expected change when Luke William's first full season start to his campaign after a number of poor games, bore draws if I remember and Duff had and up down season until the Leicester City game with both William's and Duff they then threw the baby out with the bath water with changes that lost control of so many games there after, being unable to turn them around, Martin did the opposite he kept it the same got found out by other managers until he changed things to get positive results, we didn't have the players to suit his style of play but he didn't change it until too late to a stye that suited his players.

Matos has had injuries to key players some worked in our favour, some haven't, with the international break some of our players have had lot of game time if you include the number of championship games so players rested or rotated which would be understandable but did we play our strongest eleven possible yesterday? As stated before we all looked to pick " better" options in style or in personel. Matos gave us what some of us wanted with the personel but was that our strongest or most experienced starting eleven available to play against a team away from home, yes we could have scored early in the game but did we leave ourselves open defensively by all out attack, we have seen with Martin even with good forwards if you look to attack while leaving yourselves wide open to attack then against better opponents you will get punished even against poor teams as well. How many teams have you seen in this league get punished severely trying to chase games.

If you try and rationalise things you could say Opoku played well early door with Just alongside him and Just had a good understanding with his fellow countryman Stamenic people expressed concerns about how lightweight defensively that midfield has looked. Eustaquio looks composed on the ball but not a tenacious player in the Franco mode and still finding his feet or even his correct position in the team, we have said Stamenic looks better for the team further forward but are we looking for height or ball winners in that centre midfield, Widell out on the wing?
We asked for change it didn't work, a mistake by Matos in team selection or style of play away from home but once we started chasing the game we were picked off from the start and continued to be.
It is only one game but a painful defeat, in our efforts to be more positive to attack we have lost our defensive shape isolated defenders, the same could be said for keeping possession we have isolated our attackers as we have seen once teams lose the ball players can be out of position and quick ball forward from deep can take advantage of that, we are not doing that so much now, is possession football giving our forwards as many clear opportunities to take advantage of?
Matos has previously made little changes in team line up to solve problem when able. Maybe reverting back in style may be the answer?

Once again Richard younare the voice of reason and another well written opinion

In fairness to Matos he has put his hands up for this one and maybe he underestimated QPR given their recent run of results.

Injuries are not helpimg him either, losing Yeo and Ronald are blows and whilst we are hearing calls for Monga what makes folk so certsin he is fully ready given the apparent issues we have had explained to us.

The Blackburn game will tell us a lot about Matos.....hopefully he will have us back to winning ways

Poll: Should Coleman ask Curt for advice/help?

On the subject of inexplicable loss of form....

30 years ago this month as many will remember, Ferguson's United were unbeaten in the league and had just beaten Liverpool...Another title looked like it was heading to Old Trafford once again

They then went to Newcastle and like us got pasted 5-0. then came a 6-3 drubbing at Southampton and a home defeat to Chelsea.

Losing 3 in a row and dropping 9 points was unheard of for that team of such calibre and it sent shockwaves through English football for 3 weekends

They then resumed the previous form and ended up as Champions by 7 clear points.

A freak result and performance like yesterday can happen to any team but having the tenacity to bounce back is what is required.

Blackburn at home will tell us a lot about this squad's mentality and whether Maestro Matos can fix and still get a tune out of what was yesterday a broken piano..

Great post 👍

Lucky the vast percentage of jacks think like you.

Yes next week is going to be interesting, blackburn have come good because of a wily old fox, he has got them playing.well above their potential imo.

We have a better squad but that means feck all, matos has to get the selections correct but most of all the players HAVE to be up for it.

I am moving trees to get down for this one as I cant make any games in Nov due to a job change.

I truly believe that the boys will cone out firing but as ever I am eternal optimist 🤷

Mad QPR look like Spain there fans thought it was Christmas. If no reaction next week we will slip out of the play offs without a fight. Now we see if team has got heart.

Their fans thought it was Christmas, while our fans watched a Halloween horror show. Let's hope next weekend there will be some fireworks!
