I saw your posts last night, I decided not to comment then because the smell of alcohol in very word was overwhelming. Stay away from the internet when drinking is my only advice to you. And possibly try to read something for what it is not for what you want it to be.

I also resent you turning my work into a hate campaign against others.

Whooooaaaa there, I can tell you Liam there was no alcohol in my post.

I am getting sick of people banging on about internationals being the problem with our injuries, that was the catalyst to my rant.

I am sorry for the expletives, I was out of order on that one but I stick to my guns re the argument on injuries, this imo is giving people ammunition to blame them solely on the internationals.

But I what i do take offence in is being called a bully, that is one word that definitely doesnt describe me, as you well know I stick up for people getting bullied, its one of my biggest hates.

Anyway I hope you can accept my apology and we can move on, I can promise you that I will not use anymore expletives in reply to your reports.

We follow the same football club
Some see things others don’t
Every player is privileged to be employed by our club and wear the shirt
They do what we would all do for free
They get paid handsomely
Few give a shit about the club ( it’s about them and their career
When’s the next bigger contract
They kiss the badge and spout platitudes taught at media training
I’ve done media training so I xan smell it

No fan is greater than any other
People die loving this club
People get cremated in the shirt
The club and its fortunes are a relief from reality of pain stress and worry

And just look at us

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

If I may …
Yes indeed that bit the case but we are old farts from a generation that saw
1. A father
2 One that worked
3. A mum who stayed home and looked after children with no wash machine, disposable nappies, tumble driers ,vacuum cleaners, air friers , fridge , freezer , not to mention car

Parents who gave a shit

Sportsmen were harder , cricket , rugby , tennis , golf , you name it Moyor sport immeasurably safer

And on and on

However , these days we have possibly a greater mental challenge rather than physical
Football is faster although less violent ; same with rugby

In short, people are softer now and gym fit rather than natural fit
Old miners , steelworkers , shipbuilders were fit and strong by their job
My own family had a building business and my father a master brickie who was very tough with hands like shovels
My mothers mother never had an inside toilet nor bathrooom all their lives so I get your point

Players these days I would contend , like their contemporaries are just more fragile especially mentally

And I avoided the “ I” word

I tend to agree with the premise of your post.

The World has changed dramatically for footballers. The amount of attention that they get is astronomical. My grandfather played in the old Division One just after the Second World War. He worked part time in a shipyard and used to get the bus to and from games. He would have laughed at the idea of sports psychology.

Nowadays there is huge amount of attention and focus on emotional wellbeing which is a two edged sword, my grandfather just got on with things.

International football was a rare event, now it competes with the league schedule. The enormous amount of travelling that players like Just and Stamenic have to do was unheard of. I wouldn't be surprised if our players collectively travel further than most clubs with trips to Asia, Australasia, South America, North America and Africa.

The game is quicker and as a result players suffer more injuries that are associated with athletics these days, tears and ruptures.

As for Welsh, he was obviously slower in the West Ham game and I wouldn't be surprised if he was tired. When I played I remember players who could compete week in week out and others who struggled with two games a week and would sit out some training sessions.

Shanks were very special and in many ways quite weird , in a good way
Never forget a man like that

Paved the way for Bob Paisley a little more reserved or softer when in the public eye and won more trophies with Liverpool than Shanks.

Totally agree I dont get this thing anout proffesional sportpersons being fatigued or exhausted.
They train to be fit, they have dieticians, sports scientists monitoring them.
They exert them selves for a max of 270 mins a week if there are 3 games and them its not flat out for the full 90 mins in each game.

Many of our forfathers did heavy physical work sometimes 12 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week.

Exhausted and fatigued are relative and probably aren’t the best descriptions.

If you asked Steven Welsh to slot in for your local pub team, he could probably do it five times a week. We’re talking about being too fatigued to play effectively against elite athletes, not just generally knackered.

Away from any involvement in internationals. He was withdrawn as a result of close on exhaustion at Lincoln. The manager said so. As Liam stated exhaustion breeds mistakes and injuries.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

It’s not normal person fatigue and exhaustion, it’s being half a second too slow to react or not picking out the right pass because you’ve switched off mentally for an instant.

It needs a better description than exhaustion, because every time it happens you’ll get someone saying they did 50 hour weeks at British Steel and still played twice on the weekend.

Sir Kevin would also tell you that RL players are flat out for the first 60 mins then they hang on
Back on the day Yorkshire miners would come up after a night shift , have a nap on chair then play a game

All the players are constantly monitored by a highly trained team including during matches. They probably make the calls on whether players are fit to be playing or not.

And there it is.

The thing that people aren’t grasping is the Yorkshire miners weren’t playing to the standard or intensity Championship players do. Any of them came in for Welsh after night shift and they’d have a really tough time

They were playing
On pitches that resembled farm fields
Wearing apparel that weighed them down
With a ball like a bar of soap
Boots that got heavier in the wet
Diet was terrible
No conditioning coaching nor physiological help

However , far less games per season and far less financial incentives and no pressure from media

Yes and you could wake Stephen Welsh up at four in the morning, after a three day bender, kickoff half an hour later and he’d easily be the best player on the pitch in those games.

However, being even slightly off the boil against elite footballers is going to result in making mistakes, conceding chances and losing games.

He’s in his mid 20s. Barely played a 100 career league games.

Slightly off the boil? Exhaustion ?

Only he will know. He may be a bit tired. If that’s the case then god help him and us. Adrenaline can get them through games. I’m not buying that nonsense. Get out there and earn your money. This current pampering of over paid footballers stems from the Premier League and it works its way down.

Your career will be over before you know it. Get out there and give it your all. Give some like like Ashley Williams a bell. Or Garry Monk. Boys, centre backs, who also came through from lower teams and played at the top. And relished every minute.

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

The top players never complain about playing 60 odd games for their club, and a dozen or so for their country. They just get on with it.

Thats the problem with defenders mate a mistake is often a goal and everyone sees it on the highlights, further forward and players make mistakes and some who don't watch the game don't see them unless its a poor attempt on goal again shown on the highlights. I wouldn't take any notice of OHL, he said throughout the match day thread that he couldn't get a stream then spent the evening slagging off the players. Sums things up really.

For someone who didn’t have a stream it’s amazing how he commented. Truly amazing.

We have a bigger and more capable squad this year so exhaustion shouldnt really be that much of an issue, the coaching team need to be on top of this at all times. The vests now give the medical and coaching staff pre warnings about tiredness and threats of injury so managed properly this should not be an issue with the squad we have?

As been demonstrated many times before the secret of success in this league is to manage your team game by game to counter the opposition even when things are going well. We have suffered in previous seasons by not adapting enough and being far too predictable, Credit to Matos this has been a huge improvement so far this season.

You have to put your trust in the whole squad and if any players are off the boil in fitness or form then switch things around, much better to sit out a game, recover and return refreshed than play stressed and get injured.

Most mins played in league this season:
- Tymon & Vigs @1,080
- Welsh @ 940
- Stamenic & Lissa @ 873

Welsh has been exceptional since signing and is now playing at a higher standard than at Celtic so probably does need a rest every so often which isn't and shouldn't be a problem with the squad we have.

So did you actually watch the game or just slagged players off after it through instinct.
