I think the EU won't let the UK use their oven. They want us to go without dinner to punish us. Roll on January the first when we are rid of them.

It's just as much a case of the EU not wanting us to have the oven ready deal, they want stricter rules so the UK finds it harder to flourish. Or as the EU puts it, they don't want us having an advantage!

Weknow this because when Bojo said we could have the same deal as Canada the EU said no because we are too close and it makes a difference, or as Barnier called it, our "particular proximity"

It takes two to do a deal with an element of compromise on both sides. Bojo has to sell it to the Tory party to get through the HOC and the EU have to sell it to the member states. I honestly thought that a deal would be done because neither side wants a no deal but the need to sell the compromises might just make a proper deal impossible to achieve.

It's going to take some give and take and some very imaginative language to describe a deal from which both sides can claim victory.

Over the last few months they have frequently referred to an Australian type deal in preference to sing the term No Deal which is where we appear to be at.

If things go Pete Tong in January, we could find ourselves back at the negotiating table in a much weaker position. The boss of Toyota was very unenthusiastic about a No Deal Brexit earlier this week.

Time will tell.

Just you wait until someone tells the German car manufacturers what's going on. They'll soon sort the EU out.

They will, won't they? I read it on here enough.

That’s the spirit.

It’s hard to imagine how we got in to this mess really.

Take a bow, FJ. You've always said that leaving the EU without a deal, on WTO terms, would be the best deal for the country, and we're about to find out if you were telling us the truth.

The EU were never going to make it easy for us, they are playing hardball to deter other countries who are thinking of leaving. If we walk away and are successful it will be the end of the EU.

Yeah, like who wouldn’t think rejecting the best deal we could possibly have had isn’t a good idea? Big bowls of hardship all round please.

Well we were told by the media and the brains trust on here that labours defeat was all to do with Corbyn and nothing to do with Brexit.

Yes the UK voted to leave EU, regained our sovereignty and trade with the EU as equals. That is democracy in action.

If the EU want to punish us as well as their own economy so be it.
It shows how corrupt and undemocratic the EU have always been.

That's a good thing why? It just proves they have been acting in bad faith and never wanted a deal because they knew from the beginning the Uk had red lines too.

Kilk was posting how bad it was that Bojo had made some concessions to get a deal on the NI situation and protecting the GFA.

It just shows that the UK has been willimg to compromise but the EU won't.

It's surprising how panicked Brexiteers are getting about us leaving the EU without a deal, because a lot of them (not just Pikey Paul) were continually saying that this would be the best outcome for us in the referendum campaign.

From now on, they own this mess. They can't spread the blame to Labour or other parties, who had no influence on this. They can say that boo hoo the EU were mean to them and played hardball, but that's an infantile argument.

When we were in the EU we had the best deal possible, and it was better than Germany's because it had everything that Germany had plus concessions. That's gone and it's not coming back. Everyone accepts that we're out of the EU, but we know exactly who to blame.

Panicked? I called it on page 2 of the Brexit countdown thread about 3 years ago that “hard Brexit” or no deal was inevitable.

As I said neither does the EU it never has . It just wanted to punish us for voting to leave. They never negotiated in good faith at any time.
