Chiefs don’t want them Steve. It makes them look too aggressive. Instead the Chief asks not to demonstrate .

Ideology critics would suggest that they were right wing as anarchists detest big government intervention which far left ideology essentially is.

Johnson paid millions of taxpayers money for water cannons in London. They were then deemed unsuitable and sold for scrap.

They were not deemed unsuitable at all, and you know it. Too many left wing ponces claimed they were against peoples human rights, so they were scrapped! Probably Bliar or one of his Labour clowns. Sooner our police are more aggressive and physical with this type of trash the better...these 'protesters' need disciplining. I would love to see soldiers deployed, great training for them too.

Why don’t you check your facts before spouting complete guff? They were purchased by Boris who was Mayor of London at the time, but their used was banned in England and Wales by the well known leftie Theresa May who was the then Conservative Governments Home Secretary. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk- Not arguing with you about the police getting tougher on some of these scumbags who do need to respect the law, but I don’t blame them for not doing so because they can’t win whatever they do. Go in hard, it’s brutality, criticism from all and sundry, then there’s the investigations, prosecutions in a Court case, lose job etc, etc. When they take a more tolerant less hands on, it’s the same, criticism, complaints, allegations of neglect, laziness, investigations etc etc. Not saying the police should become a paramilitary type force, but when their kitted up in riot gear I think at that point people should now that if they don’t wise up their going to see some force. The police by en large have their priorities and mandate from politicians via the Home Office and Commissioners most of whom have political allegiances. [Post edited 27 Mar 2021 21:07]

Is there any proof of this? Or is it just a vague claim? It wouldn't surprise me that much but you can't just claim something as a fact without proof. I could claim Bojo was a great Prime Minister

Why did the Avon and Somerset Police lie about officers having broken bones last week ? For all you key board warriors wanting the police to unleash even more violence on sitting protesters then you are wrong. Every city in England would be on the streets in a summer of riots as the lockdown frustrations boil over. Thats now on the cards. Maybe if Johnson and Patel thought this through they might avoid a civil disorder disaster than matches their pandemic disaster. Not fit for office.

Great post, if situations are bad enough for police to put on the riot gear, then force should be expected and rightly so, things have go that bad these days that Police need the help that water cannons will bring, re-introduce them I say. Decision should be taken out of the hands of governments and given to the proper authorities whose job it is to protect properties and people going about their peaceful business. The civil liberties lot should be put in their place at times of these demos meets etc we just can't go on accepting this anarchy.
