The United Kingdom is a member of the United nations. Neither of the four parts of the UK is a nation in it's own right.

The English for millennia used to say they were British and flew wall to wall union jack's at the 1966 WC final not English flags but now they are less and less British and not just in a football sense, they now often regard themselves as English and not British, experts have been looking into this recent phenomenon to try and work out why that is.

They play for Wales have Welsh ancestors and consider themselves Welsh so it is the correct flag. Just as sterling considers himself English though he was born in Jamaica of Jamaican parents and has no English ancestors. | |

Actually Great Britain is not an Ireland. The Ireland is called Britain, Great Britain refers to the mainland Britain and all the islands the hebridies, angelsea etc. The United Kingdom refers to Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The British Isles refer to everything including the Ireland of Ireland. I blame the schools they don't seem to teach geography these days. | |
