Matches getting covid postponed and talk of football stadia closing or severely restricted YET

We are still seeing footballers, many unvaxed ,slobbering all over each other after scoring a goal.

It really is utter stupidity.

Our manager left it up to the players

And that prove my point
It i o utterly stupid .
Allowing footballers to decide whether they spread covid or not.

Few people can spread covid like footballers ,if you think about it;, touch ,feel distance.

Now is the reckoning .

You don't get any closer than a scrum, 16 players in full physical effort breathing heavily over each other. Don't take a so biased view.

I agree with you, but both rugby and football need to get their houses in order. They are all tested continually so it should be picked up quickly. But the likes of Tate mixing with away supporters in a pub, although admirable, should it be done in current times.

The quicker most of us catch the “milder” form of covid (omicron) the more chance natural antibodies, (plus ongoing vaccinations) will enhance our immune systems, thus hopefully, achieving a version of heard immunity that will put an end to lockdowns.
I do appreciate there are vulnerable people that need to isolate themselves, but life has to go on.
Whole swathes of people will become unemployed, as businesses go bankrupt, if we keep insisting that we all hide from covid.
As a country how much longer can we pay people to stay home?
Their already talking of raising the pension age to 68, because UK plc. won’t have a pot to pee in, come the future.
I’d booked months ago for me and the wife, to go and see Bill Bailey in the Motorpoint arena last night, plus an overnight stay in a Scumdiff hotel.
Since omicron raised it’s ugly head, every doom monger/ soothsayer has had his or her 10 minutes of fame, insisting the end of the Word is nigh, and I thought, probably not a good idea to go to an indoor venue.
Well I tell you what, we’re both no spring chickens, but we discussed it, and came to the same conclusion …. fcuk um! we went.
We’ve both been triple jabbed, the third one 3 weeks ago, so what’s the point building all that so called immunity, and then be too frightened to go out ?
Having said all this, how come some darling footballers think they are TOO “special” to go down the same route as the majority of their fans, (and 85% of the country) and get vaccinated in a worldwide pandemic ?

Unfortunately the omicron variant can be caught a second time so if you catch it the little antibodies it produces will not stop you catching it again.
Need everyone to get fully vaccinated including sportsmen unless they want to work from home on no wages.

Yes it is essential to get everybody vaxxed so that nobody catches or spreads COVID.
A classic example is the American Football League.
94.6% of players and almost 100% of support staff are vaccinated.
Quote "During routine monitoring testing from Aug 1 — Dec 11, 215 players and 325 personnel were confirmed positive cases."
And the latest data.
Quote "The NFL's COVID-19 testing results for the November 28 — December 11 period are as follows: There were 58 new confirmed positive tests among players and 50 new confirmed positives among personnel."

The point is that vaccination does not stop the spread of the virus.
When will you understand that.
The only reason for vaccination is to reduce the symptoms, you will still test positive if you get it.

True, but hopefully the vaccinated will put less of a strain on the NHS, to the benefit of people who really do need treatment, not just for covid. Those who chose not to be vaccinated are just being plain selfish with no thoughts of others.

This discussion isn't about hospitals, it is about sportsmen and sportswomen and vaccination rates.
Higher Vaccination rates do not mean that clubs won't find themselves in the current situation, because the vaccinated are getting and spreading it within their clubs.
In fact the supposed "immunity" provided by double vaccinations is liable to make the overconfident young take more chances than normal.

The biggest problem is that when viruses are rife within large, unprotected populations, they mutate and create new variants more rapidly. The "we should all catch it and be done with things" idea has always been complete bollocks (even ignoring the immediate death toll that involves). It literally doesn't work like that with coronaviruses, why do you think we still have flu going round every year?

Omicron being so contagious and widespread will lead to 2 or 3 new variants, it won't safely immunise everyone.

True it is about footballers/coaches & the impact on the sport but you are missing the point that if you are fully vaccinated & identified as a close contact t of a positive case you can carry on playing/training with daily negative LTF tests - 10 of QPR’s ‘missing’ players for our game today were isolating because they couldn’t be bothered to get vaccinated I.e. they were to blame for the game being postponed.

There is no such thing as immunity to coronavirus regardless of how many jabs you have.

Every study they do says that it makes you less likely to catch and (if you do catch) less likely to transmit. He's been told this before but keeps banging the same tin foil drum.

I started a job 3 weeks back, I have a lot of face to face contact with customers, many of whom do not wear masks. I could have gone down the hiding route but I choose to get on with life. I wear my mask, I try to be careful but I'm not for hiding away any more.

I know the possible consequences and I don't actually need to work but hiding away at home isn't for me.
I just wish everybody would see sense and get vaxxed, follow the rules, Show some consideration for others rather than just be selfish twonks all their lives.

Disclaimer, obviously people with genuine reasons why they can't be vaxxed are exempted from my ire.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
