Part exed mine recently at Motorpoint. Got offered £1500 more than I paid for it there two years before.

Similar to me last May.

Would highly recommend Motorpoint to anyone looking for a nearly new used car.

Been satisfied with them. The last time they tried to play silly buggers a bit over the service history, but when I made it clear that I was happy to walk away they caved.

The last 10-12yrs I've always bought high end second hand cars due to doing well over average mileage and end up spending ££££ on the up keep on them but my missus who mainly drives locally mostly to take our dogs out bought a 2002 plate astra over 6 years ago for £400 and in all that time it needed some new wiper blades for a MOT and a top up with oil now and then that's it the thing is like a tank and just keeps going!

No, not a winner unless he is not buying another car.
If he is the newer car will also be £1500 more expensive.
Just like house price inflation, it is only a bonus if you are getting out of the market.

None of you will be allowed to drive before too long.
Unless you're a 5k a year type driver and then only if you've been good on social media

Ah, the same old story again. Klaus Schwab...WEF....they're taking all our stuff off us.

Don't worry about the future, you may not be around, live for today and worry about the things you CAN control.

Second hand cars here, twice the price of the uk.
Extortionate.

I paid 7k sterling for a four year old Corrsa when we came here, it hasn’t got any better.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Watch they don't try to claw some back with what we would consider minor damage Jim, like chips scratches and scrubbed alloys.

Looked to hire a car for 4 days from knock airport... Varying between £700-£900.

The reason, there appears to be a shortage of hire cars due to the hire company selling their cars due to the increase in value of 2nd hand cars and holding out to get replacements once the price drops.

My wife hails from Donegal, we got married in Donegal Town! We use Knock airport quite a bit. The airport is not huge but has improved a bit 😁

There is a global shortage of new cars due to the Global shortage in computer chips. UK sales are down by 1,000,000 since the peak in 2016 and 700,000 since prepandemic 2019.

This has resulted in a shortage of good quality second hand cars which come onto the markets as dealers take them as part exchange.

The hire car companies also run down their car stocks during the pandemic due to lack of demand it could be several years before the car market returns to normal.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

Personally I think the new car market will never return to pre pandemic levels. Four main reasons more are working from home than pre pandemic so require less car use. The price of fuel some are making other arrangements. The cost of living is making people reassess what they prioritise and in the medium/long term the change to electric cars and the cost involved (unless there are major subsidies).

The banning on petrol cars from 2030 will ensure the price of them stays high.
Electric cars are just not viable currently.

The majority who trade up to new every couple of years will not be able to bridge the gap financially there is always the lease option for some. This could well prove tempting in times of hardship, sell their asset as used prices are high (currently it may change) and pay a monthly fee.

I would normally be looking to change my car which is now 4 yrs old#
Electric cars worry me;mainly the thought of not finding a charging point on a trip.
To be totally reliant on charging a car to go anywhere is unsettling to me.

For the cost of a half decent electric car ,I could get a Merc SUV

It really is a big issue and many are holding on to their petrol/diesel as they are unsure.

With annual petrol cost for a car now running at £2500 not sure petrol cars a viable now.

Petrol through the roof, electricity prices through the roof.
Electric and petrol car prices up. Driving is becoming pretty hard to afford.
