I was voting leave well before Bojo got involved. My choice was nothing to do with Bojo, he only joined leave, as you suugest, so he have a run at being PM.

I didn't vote for the main parties either, I don't think Starmer would be any good. There are still divisions in Labour and Starmer is not strong enough. I think we will end up in a US situation, replace one problem with another. |  |

I think it'll be about who is considered the worst choice and even though Starmer is a wet lettuce he seems less dangerous than Sunak or Truss. Will he be any good, I don't have a clue but if the GE were tomorrow and the choice was either of these tories or Starmer I think I'd rather give Starmer a chance.

I think you make some interesting points, Cat. I was chatting to the in laws yesterday, a lot of (if not all) of the loss of manufacturing and skilled work was poor policy decisions. Freedom of movement was exploited by companies and a simple remedy would be clear contracts and use of local labour/apprentices.
Even now, where there are huge labour shortages there are companies popping up to do the heavy lifting to get qualifications from India/Australia etc. in rather than growing our own. Sites in London won't take 16-18s and I pose the question, were we angels at 16/17? |  |

What Labour needs is a leader who is good enough to tackle the Tories irrespective of gender, colour, religion etc. It’s good for the country to have healthy competition, something that’s been severely lacking over the past decade or so. | |
