Swansea City’s comedy of errors continue (2) 17th Aug 2022 10:42
Swansea City threw away the extra points yet again at the swansea.com last night and it seems lessons, despite then being talked about for over a year are not being learned. It was a display of dominance in the first half that melted away in to a ridiculous performance that lacked any bite in the second half. And that’s being mellow, trust me it is, especially for what’s about to come. 0

It’s back.

Keith.
I could have written that myself as that is exactly how I’ve seen it for months.
Frankly,Martin has beaten us,killed our spirit .How come the crowd was so comment that even Leon commented thus.
Martin is sucking the life blood out of our club, the longer he stays the worse it will get .

We have brought in weak players to replace stronger ones yet loan out lads who are physical ,keen and quick. We are being mullered.

Blackpool might just have been a blip where we got lucky.

Now Nathan Jones next. You can bet how this one is going to go.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Passionate article Keith but I have to disagree.

Thought we played reasonably well created enough chances to have scored 4 or 5

The referee gave us no protection whatsoever.

Can't excuse what happened at the end but to call it a gutless performance is harsh.

All about opinions I suppose.

It’s not about him as much as the players there’s only so much he can do. And he’s tried his very best that’s for sure.,

The second own goal? How the feck can you head it in your own net....when the ball has gone past the post and away from danger. It's staggeringly inept. Unreal really

Excellent piece Keith and yes whilst players have to put their hands up one shouldnt forget that a fish rots from the head down.

The manager must be accountable, he is the one for example who has decided Sorinola is suitable to play for us, he is the one who is picking Lati out of position, he is the one who decides tactics .

Grimes is no captain and we lack leadership on the pitch maybe a fully fit Allen will give us this ...We have what we have in terms of the players ..MArtin has had input to the squad he also decides to play many out of position and makes decsions late in the gsame ( at Oxford and last night ) to reorganise our defence at a time when the oppostion are putting us under the cosh.

IT is pathetic which is why there were boos last night....Maybe players need to satnd up and be counted but maybe Martins managment style prevents this as they fear being frozen out.

We have surrendered leads in several games over the last 12 games ...it is becoming a pattern and we did it earlier in the season too....sides know a late aeriel bombardment will see us crumble.

We started well we seem to have ditched the possession for possesion sake got two early goals created several other scoring opportunities but yet it seems we cannot defend....amazing how an ex defender csannot seem to sort out the defence?

There is a collective responsibility to put this right but it starts with the manager as it is he who sets the mood and culture, tactics etc.....If players arent perfroming they should be dealt with in the right way....

THis cannot continue I thought that following Saturday we might be starting to turn a corner ......swallows and summer and all that....

Everyone connected with last night need to take a long hard look at themeselves but theManager in particular needs to focus and rememebr when he points a finger at others he is pointing 3 back at himself

Shame we cant ask for a refund from our season tickets

If he had scored that for us then it's a contender for goal of the season

It's always been obvious to me that your football knowledge is very limited but that article reaches new lows. Some of the football we played in that "ridiculous" second half was sublime - the move that produced Joe Allen's great effort, the team move that finished with Obafemi letting the ball pass through his legs for Piroe to shoot was top, top drawer stuff. Wood was impressive on so many occasions last night.
The only thing I 100% agree on with you is Sorinola. When I watched that sickly man hugging episode with the manager when he arrived, as if we had convinced Messi to join us, my first reaction was -mm he don't look much. We have a manager who does not know what a footballer looks like. To have worked with the player before and think he is up to Championship standard is mind blowing. I've run out of steam. (Purposely posted to both threads!)

It’s a shame you can’t discuss the article in itself without being rude or limited in your ability to discuss the issues. So therefore a response regards what you think really isn’t going to be forthcoming other than to say thanks for your ‘educated’ ( in loose terms ) guess at who I am and what I know. Unfortunately it lost its ability to become anything other than noise after the first letter.

Thanks for popping in 👍

Yes I apologise - no need for me to be so personal - but the article wound me up out of sight. I have picked out bits and pieces that were discussion points, you will be aware that I am a million miles away from being a Martin fan but there has been some childish negative nonsense posted today.

Swansea simply need to practice the dark arts. That is it. This team is full of idealist youngsters coming up against seasoned hard nut old fella's manged by a limited seasoned old fella manager.

Where was the cuteness the sort of fouls Harry kane engineers for breakfast?.
Where was the after you Claude thow ins?
Where was the messing about in the corner?.
Where was the unfortunate late melee Connor Roberts used to love?.
Where was Martin and Rowett getting shirty and needing a word from the referee?.
Where was Patterson with the ball walking backwards offering the ball to a Millwall player 20 years away then accidently dropping it and another misunderstanding.
Where was Obafemi with cramp?

You showed some class there.
Keith btw has been a well respected football writer for thirty years, he can’t get it right all the time. This site is evidence of that at times and he would be the first to admit when he is wrong. And he has.

We all have days when things get a bit much. And I can assure you he has more than most.

We have won 1 of our last 11 games.

We haven’t beaten a team currently in our division at home since March, 6 months ago.

We have given away 2-0 leads in injury time twice in the last three games. 3 goals conceded past the 93rd minute.

Not even two isolated games either, it’s becoming a theme.

The article was spot on and it’s about time the core of the issue was addressed regardless of who it annoys. I thought it was excellent.

It’s a shame this article was hidden away a bit through the week.

So much better than the usual stuff with positive spin and sugarcoating. An actual true reflection of real feelings and the real concerns at the club.

Time for honesty, time for the brutal way it is.

No more nonsense excuses, false hope and spin. As fans we have a duty to call out rubbish if it’s affecting the health of our club. Russell is doing just that.

The anti brigade are in a real quandary.
If they blame the manager it takes away from their shareholders. If they blame the shareholders it dilutes their ire at Martin. Several who were blaming Martin have now returned to having a go at the shareholders because their erstwhile target of blame has come out with negative comments about their previous targer.

The way I see it is that there isn't a queue around the block of people lining up to buy the club. A football club can very easily become a huge money pit. The owners do seem to have invested some money over the years but can't or won't continue endlessly.
The club needs to be run on balanced books or its going to be in trouble.
To do that we need to get results with what we have got.
That doesn't involve playing fantasy football on this sort of budget. The nanager needs to be pragmatic to get results with what he has and use the money to generate results and future income.
That's not happening right now.
Sacking the manager is within the boards hands. Finding new owners with deeper pockets is out of their control.
