Nothing to do with how well educated the kids are , nothing at all . Great idea in fact , everyone doesn’t have compete in the latest fashion trends , very decent prices for the basic trousers shirts etc . Getting to conform this isn’t Russia you know
"In a free society, the State is the servant of the people—not the master."
Many countries with some the best education systems in the world seem to think school uniforms are a good idea to install discipline and pride in their pupils achievements. Striving to improve oneself instead of sinking to the lowest level is to be congratulated.
I just wish some of our public services had people in decent uniforms.
I wonder what the the schools would do if pupils turned up not wearing uniform? A lot of families will have more than one child to buy uniforms for. I’m very sorry but when you hear families are having to choose between energy bills and the cost of living increases the paying for school uniforms would be way down on my list.

The whole idea of school uniforms is so all children are on the same level. Get rid of school uniforms and children from better off backgrounds will be wearing designer clothes to school and that’s the reason why we have school uniforms.

I agree…but when you add the school motifs the price heads North big time.
Of course ther should be uniforms but things like blazers should be dropped, they are expensive and too hot in summer, too cold & not waterproof in winter.
There should be iron on badges so parents can buy the cheaper items on sale in supermarkets.
We had to buy new trousers for our son, we ended up in M&S and paid 51 for 3X2 pairs of black trousers. Dwr y Felin used to allow polo shirts in the summer but they are scrapping that this year and it has to be shirts and jumpers with a blazer which are all pre badged and expensive.
For a less well off family with more than one kid it is an expensive nightmare.
Britain Ireland and Malta , are the only countries in Europe that has mandatory uniforms. Italy has stopped them because of historical links to Mussolini. That says it all to me.
Makes me wonder how Europe manages to educate it's pupils without dressing them all the same

We don’t have compulsory school uniforms.
One of the reasons they are so prevalent in the UK is because it’s one of the few things in education that has overwhelming parental support.
Running a school with a uniform is much easier too.
They are thinking of banning the embroidered logo or utilising cheaper iron on versions. The problem is very often you have to go to one single shop/ supplier. Whereas if you didn’t have the embroidered logo, you could get exactly the same in Tesco, Morrisons, Asda for a fraction of the price. There’s a bbc online article floating about somewhere that I read re banning the use of logos in wales but I don’t know how to post it here.

Their parents don't have to pay lots of money out of their own pockets and they a have individual contracts and numbers
The money is a fair point which can be overcome by plain tops with the logo ironed on. Having poorer kids be bullied as they can’t keep up with the richer kid’s expensive shoes, tops etc.
When I was in a Cefn Saeson. I had a plain black jumper, no logos at all. Tie was the only thing that was unique to the school.
It’s also a sign of belonging, all part of the same school, looks smart.
