I think this is a fair shout. He’s always been a good player for us and he’s got proper fire in his belly. It would then give Martin the option to rest or sub Grimes .
Fulton has been out in the cold but has shown his desire to force his way back in and again was tremendous last night. Grimes didn’t have a bad game but a lot around my area of the east stand were groaning when he opted for safety time and again. Before they scored he was as positive as I’d seen him but then kind of went back into automatic pilot.
I think Fulton has natural leadership skills and would make a tremendous captain leading by example. It may actually help Grimes perform better without the responsibility. |  |

He has been captain through several managers who would be better placed to judge than me. He also had a meeting with Gareth Southgate on zoom who was also impressed, they had previous contact when Grimes was in the England u21 squad under Southgate. | | | |

To be honest it would never happen anyway. He did play well until their first went in then he became his usual inhibited self.
I don’t think the question is about whether he is playing well or not - more to do with a motivational sense. He doesn’t seem to have any fire in his belly - Fulton is a combative character by nature, has played plenty of PL games for us and has also had the character to fight his way back into Cooper and Martins plans - no mean feat coming in from the cold under those two. Desire is massive in football and if your captain has it then it will rub off on his team mates. | |

I like the guy and felt his treatment by RM after just a few weeks was a catalyst for my dislike of him ,as a coach. To dismiss a solid pro was criminal.
I’m not sure about making him captain as Allen should be that kit he ever plays for us again.

When Grimes plays well he offers a hell of a lot. When he doesn't play well he's more of a hindrance. Unfortunately we're in a position where largely insipid performances like the one he gave on Tuesday are passed off as "good", when we saw against Watford and Sunderland how good he actually can be when the mood takes him.
He is an immensely frustrating player. I give him more stick than basically every other player in the squad because I know and we've seen that he's got a hell of a lot more in his locker than he shows us 80% of the time. People really need to stop praising him when he doesn't. |  |

We tend to try and forget the number of time our team get caught out with mistake in our third of the pitch.
For example Fultons misplaced back pass, Grimes and Allen turnovers when pressured when suicidal balls played into feet, Grimes, Naughton and Guehi with blind passes intercepted or even Celina with ball at his feet trying to turnn in congested area on the edge of the box.
It happens to everyone it is part of the game it is keeping them to a minimum which is the goal while still trying to advance up the pitch hopefully with pace and purpose. | | | |

at a guess after the Luton game the way we play changed from then...I know many deny this or that maybe someone had a word in his shell like but the "eureka" moment was around then....maybe when he realised he may be joining the growing list of sacked Championship managers....
But things changed and we are on the up lets hope he continues to learn | |
