I struggled with this one for lots of reasons, and like most people so far it came down to a choice of 6/10 or 4/10 because both are true. It has been good at times and there is definitely room to improve, but overall I feel the Martin project is just not working. The one thing we are definitely not is average; it feels to me like we are either very good or utterly predictable and boring, with very little in-between.

Nobody can see the votes but yours is a given !
Lol
I got 13 % once in my first year at Bishop Gore. I got thrashed by the teacher ,then thrashed by mother only to face further admonishment when my father got home ,in a filthy temper,as was normal.

Jesus,Maths again. Why not bring up Physics . Positive - negative and how they react
Most things in life can be explained by mathematics.
People use it in every day life for decisions without even realising. Deciding to do something or not to do something for example is usually a subconscious weighing up process in the brain and the one with the highest statistical score (least danger, most chance of success for the goal etc) is the one you pick.
Some people are able to understand the thought process or calculations “prior” to a final thought manifesting in their head, others cannot see further back than the final thought itself. It is those two types of people which usually clash over the importance of data and mathematical and constructive thinking.

I gave 6. The positve signs are there but sometimes Martin is his own worst enemy. I think my thoughts on this have all been said often enough that I don't have to eplain further.

Physics in more apt perhaps. This morning I left my house and crossed the road. I assessed the car to my right on the street and its velocity and assessed I would be clear of it in the time i needed to cross the road. I simultaneously did the same to my left. I assessed that i would need great clearance on the car from the left as i would take longer to get to the left lane.
Some times i do v complex assessments and bisect both cars by about 10m each as they pass, me being on the right hand lane while a car is still ahead of me on the left hand lane. Having said that stray dogs do the a same assessment.

The basis of physics is maths. Without maths you don’t get scientific equations of which physics is based on.
For example in order to determine the speed of the car on your right it’s speed = distance ÷ time. These are done in approximations by your brain which led to you take the safest option. That’s my point regarding those that just see their final thought, and those that understand what led you to that final thought.
The most famous line in physics is E=Mc2. Einstein's Energy-Mass Equivalence. It’s maths.

6 for me as well. We’d have all taken being goal difference outside the playoffs with a hopefully fit and motivated Joe Allen for the second half of the season.
But the way the league has gone, it could have been so much more. We genuinely could have been serious top two contenders without playing that well. The league is there to take by the scruff of the neck and we’re fannying around happy bring part of the pack.

It depends how we are playing to achieve it.
As I said on another thread, I’d rather be 15th going into the WC break knowing we are going to come back playing a direct game again rather than 8th knowing we have gone back to the high possession, 95% short pass game.
One would represent a great chance to kick on with the quality of our squad, the other is pretty much a resignation that we will continue our fall where it left off.
We got to the top 6 by ditching his style. We have now fallen back because we have inexplicably adopted it again. So league position is almost irrelevant to the context of what surrounds it.

I’m just not seeing that. The things that caused us most problems under v1 are more or less eradicated. Mainly pointless intricate passing in and around our own box and players flooding forward, losing possession and leaving Naughton 2 or 3 on 1. We concede less unenforced error type goals.
Yes, when we’re up against packed defences we’re still too reluctant to lose possession and end up recycling all the way to the centre backs rather than taking a gamble and attacking players, when if we do lose possession, the opponents aren’t likely to do much with it in their own final third with no outlet anyway.
I said on a previous thread, we’ve got Norwich, Watford at home and two playoff contenders away next. I’d expect them to be more expansive and our stats to look a lot more like they did on our winning run, whether we win or lose those games. The way the opposition set up has a significant impact on our stats.
He does seriously need to be more ambitious with the likes of Oko-Flex or find a way of unlocking bus parking teams though, as plenty more will try it.

If we are talking Teacher about pupil. He reminds me of the guy in the class who puts his hand up to every question and generally gives a nonsense answer that he believes is true. The kid who finishes his exam first and smugly looks around the room waiting for others to finish and ends up getting a C. He's one that tends to get on the teachers nerves. 4/10 for me.

I feel like knocking Russell Martin's head against a wall for half hour for just picking Joel Latibeaudiere at right wing back. It's one of the most bizarre football management decisions I have witnessed in my life time. How many goes before it sinks in.
5/10 for me, I still think in general we have been quite poor. Too much possession for possession sake, not creating nowhere near enough and conceding more than we score is not a healthy statistic. I personally think it's a fluke where we are in the league, what a poor championship this is where nearly the whole division is still in contention for promotion and relegation at the same time.
Even when you know, you never know?

If you are comparing RM to the pupil and the Teacher to his employers. I should point out the teachers are very happy with his progress with a C and his report would say the old phrase "could do better".

Where we are shows how poor is this league .
Not easy watching us ? Imagine what it was like when we really awful under the likes of Harry Gregg, John Hollins, and numerous others. Some football supporters are so entitled. It would be far better if certain teams actually attempted to play football against us

No,not easy . Ba Those days were different as the quality of the players was low. Now ,we have quality

How far to you want to go back by comparing this team versus past Swansea teams.
I judge us now from the time Roberto Martinez took charge, that was the recent football revolution for us. We have had a host of fantastic managers - Martinez, Rodgers, Laudrup, Potter etc. So we have a good chunk of evidence what a good football manager is.
So I base my judgement of Russell Martin against those type of managers and for me he is falling short. At the moment we are an experimental pet project which is long way off from fruition in results and entertainment.
Even when you know, you never know?

This in a nutshell for me. We've done the bare minimum and are still just outside the playoffs. Imagine what we could achieve if we grew a pair, picked people in their best positions and went for it.
This season could go down as a massive missed opportunity.
